April 28-29 Prep Hoops NorCal spent 2 days at Crismon HS watching NorCal Prospects. The class of 2025 had its share of players we thought played well during the second Spring Live Period in Arizona. These prospects stood out most while we were in attendance.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384815' first='Jaylen' last='Valdez'] 6'3 G, Clutch Elite 2024, Capital Christian HS

Valdez a 2025 playing up held his own. He was aggressive taking the ball into the paint, and scoring. He had good control, he used a couple of spin moves, and handled the contact. He does a good job of using his screens to free himself up for hard drives or to put up a 3ptr.

[player_tooltip player_id='1798104' first='Domonique' last='Trotter'] 6'4 F, Team commit, Pinole Valley HS

Trotter played 17U. At 6'4 he has the body, and strength to defend in the post area. He served as one of the bigs on this team, defending and working for rebounds. He took it strong to the rim, handled the contact and finished with the left. He can handle, pass, and finish at the rim in transition. He's a strong solid target who can score in the post.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384646' first='Brayden' last='Harris'] 6'5 SG, NorCal Ducks 17U, Bellarmine College Prep HS

Harris shoots a respectable FG% from mid-range out past the 3pt line. At this event he made it a point to show he could handle the contact on the drive into the paint. He showed more of a balance game with his ball handling and passing. He found open shooters, and made long passes up court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1574745' first='Joziah' last='Bell'] 6'0 PG, Stockton Soldiers 16U, Weston Ranch HS

He's an improving PG in the 2025 class. He has a decent set of handles, and a solid body to deal with contact on the drive. He has good vision passing the ball around the perimeter. He found shooters on the drive, and used the bounce pass, and other ways to feed the post.

Danny Mpanda 6'7 G/F, Clutch Elite 2025, Capital Christian HS

He's a newcomer we'll have to see more of. He didn't play basketball last season, but seems to have a decent set of skills that he uses to get his points in the paint and using his handles in open court for drives into the paint. He played a good all around game on both ends of the court. He got rebounds and made the effort to defend away from the basket. He's on the Wright's Watch List.

Jephte Tambala 6'5 F, Clutch Elite 2025, Capital Christian HS

He's a muscular forward with good activity around the basket. He was strong going up off two playing through contact in the paint for points, and rebounds. He has a hard to block jumper inside the key using good lift and a fade away at times. He can work from the mid-post, facing up, and using a dribble or two or taking the short jumper. He's a newcomer we'll have to see more of him.

Zion Johnson 6'1 G, Clutch Elite 2025, Capital Christian HS

He's a two sport athlete, (Football) with good foot speed for the guard position. He's a decent ball handler who can run the point position or work off the ball. He has the foot speed to go by defenders to create for himself and others, he was good in open court getting to the rim, and passing it up. He played good on ball defense, and rebounds from the guard position.

[player_tooltip player_id='1772927' first='Shabol' last='Barksdale'] 6'6 W/F, CTBXGU 16U, Sacramento HS

A versatile prospect, with improving skills. He's hard to guard in the post area when he gets it going at the 16U level. He's strong going up off two with defenders hanging on him. He has good bounce working his way in from the baseline for tap ins and rebounds. He'll finish at the rim with dunks.

[player_tooltip player_id='1384824' first='Derron' last='White'] 5'10 PG CTBXGU, Monterey Trail HS

He has the slick handles and speed to split defenders, he consistently gets into the paint for dishes and dump-offs. He has a solid pull-up jumper off the dribble. He's doing a good job of running the teams half-court offense, he passes up in transition, and plays good on ball defense.

[player_tooltip player_id='1420890' first='Johnnie' last='Jones'] 6'3 W/F Team Rampage 16U National, Fairfield HS

Jones is a hard playing prospect that effects the game in different ways, and on both ends. He's a bit undersized but effective in the paint snatching rebounds with a quick jump at this level. He can push it up court fast at times. He plays with intensity and guards multiple positions. He can get points working across the paint, running the court in transition, and using his dribble drive.
