Continue ReadingLouisiana has a lot of gifted players hitting the hardwood in the various shoe circuit events going on across the country. Players from all over the Boot have put on top performances regardless of which gym they have played in on the shoe circuits. In this Prep Hoops exclusive, we will take a look at some of the Boot’s best players on the shoe circuits.
Trey’Dez Green (6’8″ / Liv On Fleur-de-Lis ’24)
While he still plays for his base team, Green has suited up for Liv On and showed why he is one of the best players in the Boot. Green is hard to contain as he can face up and drive left or right. He is one of the most athletic players you will see on any circuit and he rebounds in and out of his area. If he plays during Peach Jam, he will be one of the toughest covers during that week.
Jayce Depron Jayce Depron 7'5" | CG Madison Prep | 2024 State LA (6’4″ / LA Elite ’24)
Depron is one of the most versatile scorers on the New Balance circuit. He is a three level scorer who can defend the 1 through 3 as well. On the New Balance circuit, he has had various games where he has led the team in scoring. Depron is as good as they get on the New Balance circuit or any of the other three as well. He is a bright light in the hoops world in Louisiana.
Jyrin Sowell Jyrin Sowell 6'3" | SG Captain Shreve | 2024 State LA (6’3″ / O.W.E. ’24)
The wing out of Shreveport is one of the toughest defenders that the Boot has. Sowell brings his hard hat to the court as he uses his strength and athleticism to make it hard for anyone he is defending. Jyrin is a player who also can score at all three levels but is most lethal in the mid-range and at the rim. The way he plays gets into the head of other players which helps him as well.
Drew Timmons Drew Timmons 6'6" | SF Archbishop Hannan | 2025 State #52 Nation LA (6’5″ / Liv On Fleur-deLis ’25)
Timmons has shown on the EYBL circuit why he is the top player in his class. He can get to the rim almost at will, shoot the ball from distance, and can defend his position. He is also a player who can finish above the rim so practically any play can be called for him. Timmons is one of the best Louisiana plays on the circuit and will be a handful for teams come Peach Jam.
Chris Shiflett (5’10” / OWE ’25)
When you rate point guards on the shoe circuit, Shiflett may not be on the top of the list because of his height. However, he is one of the best point guards on the UA Rise circuit. He can score at all three levels and is adept at penetrating and finding others. Shiflett is a guard who can play on or off the ball and hurt the other team. He is a rising star on UA and can make a difference when he is on the floor.
