Below is a review of several recent happenings on the southeastern Pennsylvania recruiting scene.

Included in this edition is a commitment from one of the top 2024 prospects in the state.

SEPA Recruiting News:

[player_tooltip player_id='1189096' first='Jalil' last='Bethea'] – 6'4” / Junior / Archbishop Wood / Team Final EYBL / Shooting Guard: In 2022-23 Bethea (23 ppg.; 46% on threes) was the PCL Player of the Year and a 1st Team 6A All-State selection. He has proven to be one of the top shooting guards in Pennsylvania. Bethea recently added offers from UConn and Georgia Tech to his already impressive pile that includes offers from Miami, Villanova, UCLA, and Rutgers.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589152' first='Macon' last='Emory'] – 6'8” / Junior / Perkiomen School / Team Melo / Wing: In March, this outstanding small forward with 3-point range was named as a 3rd team Non-PIAA All-State selection. Then in April Emory posted an outstanding live period. As a result of all his remarkable work on the court, this month Emory has picked up offers from FGCU and Robert Morris.

[player_tooltip player_id='1484307' first='Jayden' last='Forsythe'] – 6'4" / Sophomore / Westtown School / New Heights EYBL: Recruitment for one of thebest kept secrets on the EYBL circuit is starting to pick up steam, as last week Forsythe received an offer from Hofstra. This “big guard” can drill threes from the logo and score off the bounce. However, it is his court vision and creative passing that will have college coaches drooling.

[player_tooltip player_id='991390' first='Duce' last='Jackson'] – 6'6″ / Collegium Charter / 610 City White / Small Forward: Jackson capped a stellar high school career by averaging 20.5 points to go along with 9 rebounds per game during his senior campaign. This past season he also cracked the 1,000-point mark and was named as a 1st Team All-Area performer. Jackson possesses the athleticism, quickness, and skill set to play 1 through 3. Obviously, he can score at every level. At the defensive end, Jackson is a plus player who rebounds and blocks shots. He recently received an offer from Bloomsburg University (D2).

[player_tooltip player_id='2419608' first='Kam' last='Jackson'] – 5'10” / 8th Grade / Bonner & Prendergast / WeR1 / Shooting Guard: The highly sought after eighth grade backcourt prospect has decided to take his talents to the Philadelphia Catholic League via Msgr. Bonner & Prendergast. Jackson is a key part of a tremendous 2027 recruiting class that Bonner is assembling.

ICYMI: This past week The Hoop Group announced their 1st Team All-HGSL selections for the April 2023 live period. Three prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania were chosen for the squad because of their outstanding play during last month's HGSL action -- shooting guard [player_tooltip player_id='1188249' first='Kevin' last='McCarthy'] of Philly Revolution; wing [player_tooltip player_id='1187959' first='Larenzo' last='Jerkins'] of BW Elite; and stretch-4 style forward [player_tooltip player_id='1379452' first='Andrew' last='Phillips'] of East Coast Power.

SEPA Recent Commitments:

[player_tooltip player_id='1119134' first='Jack' last='Kushner'] – 6'2” / Senior / West Chester East / Penn Warriors / Combo Guard: A four-year starter for WC East and a two-time 1st team All Ches-Mont selection, Kushner committed to Gwynedd Mercy University (D3) last week. The Griffins are getting a prospect who can splash jumpers and owns a deep bag of dribble drive moves Kushner fearlessly attacks the cup, then uses his 36-inch vertical to finish on defenders' heads.

Argel “IV” Petit – 6'2” / Post Grad / Phelps School / We R1 / Combo Guard: After an outstanding post graduate year at Phelps, Petit recently committed to Chestnut Hill College (D3). Prior to Phelps, Petit was an All-State combo guard for Devon Prep. As a senior at DP this elite 3-level scorer posted a stat line of 15.3 points (35% from three), 6.6 rebounds and 2.8 assists per game while leading DP to the program's first ever PIAA 3A state title. Petit also eclipsed the 1,000+ points mark while at Devon Prep.

[player_tooltip player_id='1192641' first='Darren' last='Williams'] – 6'4” / Junior / Archbishop Ryan / K-Low Elite / Combo Guard: After an excellent regular season (16 ppg; 4.5 rpg; 2.6 apg; 36% from three), Williams was simply amazing during Archbishop Ryan's run to the 5A state tourney semifinals. Included in that stretch was his 28 points (7 threes) performance in Ryan's quarterfinal win over previously undefeated Radnor. He is an incredible athlete with a lethal outside shot and a quick first step. Williams is also extremely difficult to stop in transition. After mulling over several offers, Williams pulled the trigger early and committed to Florida Gulf Coast University.
