Jaylan McElroy Jaylan McElroy 6'7" | PF DePaul Prep | 2024 State #262 Nation IL (DePaul Prep) 6’8 IL Wolves
I loved the energy that McElroy played with this weekend. He was like a handy man. Whatever his team needed he did it. Jaylan rebounded like crazy on both sides of the ball. He seems to always get the loose ball and made strong passes to teammates after his hustle. McElroy combination of height and hustle propelled his team to many victories. Most of his scoring came from around the rim. Jaylan is one of the few do it all types in the state and should be on low D1 radars.
Isaiah Green Isaiah Green 6'1" | PG Thornton | 2024 State IL (Kenwood) 6’1 94 Feet Elite
Green had an early spark in a Saturday afternoon game. He scored the first two three pointers and was able to swipe the ball twice and score tough finishes on fastbreaks. Isaiah has the toughness needed at the college level you can’t over look.
RJ McKinnie RJ McKinnie 6'2" | SG Simeon | 2024 State IL (Simeon) 6’1 Team Y&R
McKinnie had the undaunted task of covering each team’s best player while still having to produce on offense. RJ is a tough defender who works hard disrupting ball handlers often. He switched on to one of the top national post prospects and didn’t back down one bit. If you leave him open or try to go under a screen for him he will make you pay by nailing the shot. McKinney plays well off the ball but has enough lead guard skill to make others around him better.
Jaden Smith Jaden Smith 6'10" | C Kenwood | 2024 State IL (Kenwood) 6’10 Mac Irvin Fire
Smith did an excellent job at rim protection by blocking several shots on Saturday morning. He isn’t afraid to mix it up on the inside with stronger bigs using his length to disrupt anything 15 feet and in. What I like the most about Jaden was his improving post game as he made some tough over the shoulder hooks shots and did a good job at reading missed shots off the rim for putbacks. Smith has received several offers so far in the spring and if he continues to play with this productivity, he might get some high major looks.
Jehvion Starwood Jehvion Starwood 6'3" | SG Oswego East | 2024 State #269 Nation IL (Oswego East) 6’3 IL Wolves
Starwood was phenomenal on offense. He was very active at getting to the rim with a second speed off the dribble. It seems like every time you looked up he was on his own fast break getting a dunk or going for a reverse layup. He is no doubt one of the better athletes in the state and he makes teams pay when they press up on him. Starwood has been offered by D1 schools this week because of his stellar play. He should have several more offers at the end of July.
