Gianni Cobb Gianni Cobb 6'0" | PG Homewood Flossmoor | 2024 State IL — PG — Team Rose
Cobb is a prospect who I have had my eye on for a while now. The Team Rose point guard has proven himself to be one of the best prospects in the state of Illinois. I love how hard Cobb plays on both ends of the floor. Regardless of the score or situation, coaches can count on Cobb giving it 100 percent effort. This past weekend at the Midwest Melee, Cobb played great basketball. He scored well and also played tremendous defense.
Trey Welter — PG — Sky Ice Elite
Welter is a name I look forward to keeping an eye on moving forward. I really like how the point guard plays, specifically on the offensive end. In an overtime win on Sunday, I thought that Welter consistently made the right basketball play. He made great passes and kept his teammates focused during the chaos of a close game. Welter’s steady hand was a huge reason why his squad was able to come away with a big victory.
Kendall Martin Kendall Martin 6'0" | PG Waubonsie Valley | 2024 IL — PG — Brook Town Force
If Martin continues to improve, I think that he could develop into a star at the college level. He is so in control on the offensive end. It doesn’t matter what opposing defenders do, it seems as if Martin is always in his comfort mode. The point guard makes outside shots and can finish at the rim. He had many really impressive displays of offensive skill at the Midwest Melee.
Owen Squires — PG — Illinois Central Elite
Squires crushes his opponents with versatility. He is a true three-level scorer who can heat up in a hurry. But if he can’t get his own offense going on any given night, Squires is quick to pivot to a facilitator. He has great court vision which he uses to locate open teammates for easy looks around the rim. He can make any type of pass with pinpoint accuracy. Squires was very impressive this past weekend!
Kyle Irwin — SG — Team Ignite
I love how aggressive Irwin is as a scorer. It doesn’t matter if Irwin has missed his last couple of shots, the shooting guard is going to attack the hoop with confidence. He uses his tight handle and quick first step to get by defenders and finish at the rim. Irwin is also a good foul shooter. He can draw contact and finish the play at the free throw line.
Jarvis Tolbert — SG — Indiana Game
Tolbert brings a lot of toughness to the table. While some prospects will quit on plays or slow down a bit at certain points, Tolbert is always playing with a lot of effort. He had multiple tough takes to the hoop at the Midwest Melle. His ability to absorb contact and still finish was certainly eye-opening. Tolbert also proved to be an outstanding rebounder for his position
