Kendall Martin Kendall Martin 6'0" | PG Waubonsie Valley | 2024 IL — PG — Brook Town Force
Martin should no doubt be considered one of the top stock risers from the Midwest Melee. The Brook Town Force point guard really impressed as a scorer. Because he is such a dangerous shooter from beyond the arc, opposing defenses can’t afford to give him open looks. Opposing squads try so hard to run him off the three-point line, so Martin has made a habit out of beating closeouts and then making plays around the rim. He scored 21 points for his squad in a win on Sunday.
Eduardo Chiquito Jr. — SG — Brook Town Force
Chiquito proved himself as an elite scorer on Sunday. In a close win over a good All-In Athletics squad, the shooting guard stepped his game up. He tallied 19 points on six made field goals, including a made three. I really love how aggressive the SG was. He didn’t settle for jump shots. Instead, he put his head down and got to the bucket. Chiquito was drawing contact all game and getting to the free throw line.
Jahki Gray — PG — Brook Town Force
Gray only scored ten points in Brook Town Force’s impressive win on Sunday. But his performance goes far beyond the stat sheet. He did a really good job running his team’s offense. I thought that Gray did a great job passing to open teammates and keeping his guys in sync. Gray also showed brief flashes as a scorer. I thought that he made some really impressive plays around the rim.
Owen Squires — PG — Illinois Central Elite
Squires played a phenomenal all-around game on Sunday. The point guard passed, scored, and played great defense in a win for his team. It truly was a complete performance from the Illinois Central Elite standout. As a scorer, Squires can make shots from many different spots on the court. The PG is also an elite passer. He uses his great court vision to set up teammates for success.
Jason Klimas — PF — Illinois Central Elite
Klimas is a name to keep an eye on in Illinois. If the power forward can continue to improve, he could certainly develop into a high-level player. Klimas has good positional size and touch around the rim. He finished plenty of difficult shots around the rim on Sunday. The PF also snagged several tough rebounds.
Trey Welter — PG — Sky Ice Elite
In what was a really entertaining game, Sky Ice Elite came out on top in overtime. Welter stepped up big when his team needed it most. Leading his team in scoring with 12 points, Welter was great. He made several key plays down the stretch to help his team pull out the victory. Welter’s steady hand was significant in his squad’s win.
Josh Patton — SG — Team Chemistry
It was difficult for Team Chemistry to score on Sunday — it was just one of those days. Even though his team suffered a tough loss, I thought that Patton still played well in defeat. He scored 11 points and displayed some promising scoring skills. He scored from all three levels with ease.
