This kid has some serious game. He is all of 6’8 and likely has a 7’4 wing span. He was hitting defenders with some elite Hakeem fakes and pumps and he was finishing. He looks real slender but he has some strong finishes. His first step isn’t the quickest but he is effective as he uses those long strides and long arms to beat defenders that catch him or bump him on drives. He can catch and shoot so you can’t sag off of him and then in the mid post he will hit you with some good footwork as he has a smooth up and under.
I don’t know why this kid is off the map but he is as electric of a PG as they come. He has that extra gear and burst of speed that you get off of a stop that is elite. He can hang in the air real high and wait to finish. He has a great motor and you see it on the offensive glass as well as him playing defense and just being active at all times. He is like a pin ball when he does attack the rim as he is just bouncing off of defenders like nothing. Very intriguing prospect down South.
When you can pair athleticism and shooting together with player that have size that is when you really do a double take. That is exactly what you get when Owen is a double-take because he can fly. When you are paying attention you can see that he gets put in the open floor and he finishes but then you see that nice looking effortless shot and you start to pay more attention. He is a hidden gem out there in Utah, but someone could snatch him up. Schools like Nevada, Idaho State, Denver and Montana should be all over him.
Highlights
The kid isn’t even ranked and he out there giving buckets. Silas has been a player that I happened to watch when he was a 7th grader and he was hungry then but now he is just doing things on purpose. He gets to his spots he knows how to use that length and change of speed. Even though he can score at all three levels his vision and precise passing is something that really stands out. His game is mature and he is not phased by the big stage. He is more of a combo guard than a SG although he can shoot but with his ability to dribble the ball and handle pressure he is on the ball a lot. Plays on Houston Hoops and they have a good team.
