Third Team
Zyree Collins 5-11 St Mary’s (MO) Along with Tre Williams provided steady and at times dynamic backcourt play for Brad Beal Elite. Played the point guard position with his head up and excellent court awareness. Good bloodlines for the one spot. As he is the younger brother SLU point guard of Yuri Collins who is currently testing the NBA Draft waters. With two more years of high school to develop his game and add strength. Zyree could be on a similar path.
Rylan Schrink 6-3 New Albany (IN) Had an excellent weekend for an undefeated Southern Indiana Blaze squad. Kicked things off in with 11 points in a close victory against a good Ohio based Gem City Basketball Club (see below) However he was just getting warmed up. As that was by far his lowest scoring output of the weekend. Followed that up with games of 22, 32, and 21 points respectively. Has good size and length on the perimeter.
Mitchel Edwards Mitchel Edwards 6'6" | PF Carmi | 2025 State IL 6-6 Carmi White (IL) Southern Illinois forward manned the post for a good but small Indiana Ambition squad. Held up nicely and then some against a big EG10 frontline in a Friday night opening victory. Scored 13 points in that contest. However his contribution went beyond the box score. Provided rim protection and stretched the floor with his perimeter abilities. Has the skill set and lateral foot speed to be a threat on both ends of the court away from the basket. Could be an intriguing long term stretch four prospect.
Cameron Ahrens Cameron Ahrens 6'5" | C Bethel | 2025 OH 6-5 Bethel (OH) (pictured) Led Gem City Basketball Club to a 3-1 record on the weekend. Kicked things off with a bang. Put up a 30 piece against INB Black Friday night. Topped that with a 33 point outing on Sunday. Skilled and versatile forward who obviously knows how to score. Looking forward to catching more of this prospect in Columbus at the Grit Region Memorial Classic.
Tavion Williams Tavion Williams 6'7" | PF Ben Davis | 2025 State IN 6-5 Ben Davis (IN) Grassroots basketball is famous for shall we call it “generous” height listings. The opposite might be true in this case. The program says 6-5 but I’m not buying it. In all seriousness he seemed taller than listed due to his extreme length. This length allowed him to establish a “no fly zone” around the rim all weekend. Played a large role in his Team Teague Hilliard/Mixon squad going undefeated. As you would imagine had a few highlights reel dunks in a close Saturday night victory. This was against an Elite Mentality unit that featured a big frontline (see below) It wasn’t just post play that stood out. Hit a deep three with confident and smooth stroke. Plays at arguably the top prep program in the Indianapolis area. With further development physically. Could see a greater role next year for the Giants.
Fourth Team
Nathaniel Reip 6-6 Oak Hills (OH) Cincinnati area player formed a nice post duo with Emontae Weah for a balanced Elite Mentality squad. Did not put up big scoring numbers. Provided excellent post presence with his sturdy but athletic frame though. Battled hard with Tavion Williams Tavion Williams 6'7" | PF Ben Davis | 2025 State IN (see above) in a good one Saturday night. Put up 14 points in what was his team’s only loss of the weekend. Also played well in a Sunday victory over Team Indy Impact.
Aden Daughtery 6-3 Mt. Vernon-Fortville (IN) Daughtery is a smooth lefty who formed a potent scoring combo with Evan McIntire Evan McIntire 6'1" | SG Greenwood Christian | 2025 IN . Put up 17 points in a Saturday night victory over Illinois based Mike Glennon Elite. Also played well in a close victory over REAL Basketball. Scored 15 points and held one their best players Ben Rodenbuagh to 10. Will be part of deep rotation at Mt Vernon-Fortville. I feel like every tournament I have covered this spring has featured a standout Maruader. With a new coach named on Monday. They should be a program to watch in the upcoming season.
Easton Day 6-1 Mount Pleasant (MI) Day continued his strong play on the Prep Hoops Circuit for Mid-Michigan based REAL Basketball. Engaged in a scoring duel in a close loss to Daughtery and Indy Heat Competitive Greatness. Put up 21 points in that one. That was REAL’s only blemish of the weekend. Bounced back in an equally close victory over OPS Gray to close out the event. Put up 19 points in that contest. Type of player that just seems to have a knack for scoring the basketball. “Jack of all trades” type of player who is well rounded without one singular standout skill. The kids would simply call him a “bucket”. Plays at an excellent developmental high school program and it shows. A real sleeper in the state of Michigan.
Jakob Legron 5-11 Mansfield Senior (OH) Led Nova Village-Legron to a perfect record on the weekend. Would win the Prep Hoops Circuit version of the “Clutch POY” award as all four victories were nail biters. Finale was the weekend in a nutshell. Scored 26 points in a double overtime victory over Indy Heat Competitive Greatness. Also put up 26 in a regulation victory over OPS Gray.
Jace Jenkins 6-1 Princeton (IN) While Mitchel Edwards Mitchel Edwards 6'6" | PF Carmi | 2025 State IL was holding down the paint for Indiana Ambition. Jenkins was the long range marksman out on the perimeter. Shot the ball well in a Friday night victory over EG10. Scored 13 points in that one. Stayed hot all weekend. Held up well against the Division 1 backcourts of both Brad Beal Elite and Team Teague-Felder.
