Cole Certa to Notre Dame

Thursday afternoon one of the top uncommitted players came off the board as the highest ranked wing in the state Cole Certa Cole Certa 6'4" | SG IMG Academy | 2024 State #129 Nation FL made his commitment to Notre Dame. The Bloomington Central Catholic shooting guard was heavily pursued by high-major and mid-major teams across the country even before a great start to the spring on the Under Armour Association with the Illinois Wolves.

He made the announcement on twitter with a graphic of him and new Irish head coach Micah Screwsberry with Certa in a Notre Dame uniform. The back story here is that Schrewsberry who was the head coach at the time for Penn State was one of the first high-major schools to offer back in December. Penn State made him a major priority. Once he took over at Notre Dame this spring they put the full court press on and got the job done.

What is the ACC program getting? Certa is a two guard with good size and length that can score from all over the floor. Lethal three point shooter both off the catch and pulling up. Has range to well beyond the NBA arc. We saw him several times put on complete shows this season including at the O'Fallon Shootout where he broke Jayson Tatum's event scoring record by notching 43 points against Nashville. Would go on to lead BCC to a second place finish at state in 2A. More than just a perimeter shot maker he has athleticism and burst off the bounce with improved handles being slippery. Soft touch finishing game around the hoop and can finish above the rim with his pop. Secondary playmaker that has a good feel for the game.
