Boom City Elite vs. Madison County Landsharks
# | PLAYER NAME | PTS |
---|---|---|
23 | Chandler Gamble Chandler Gamble 6'6" | PF South Greene | 2025 State TN | 15 |
10 | Jarvis Palmer (AR) | 13 |
3 | JaDyn Lee | 11 |
11 | Marquis Tunstall Marquis Tunstall 5'11" | PG Power Center Academy | 2024 State TN | 8 |
4 | Brian Carter Jr. Brian Carter Jr. 6'6" | SG Ridgeway | 2024 State TN | 7 |
0 | Kj Smith | 7 |
5 | Bryson Johnson | 6 |
25 | Mike Wilson | 2 |
35 | Kason Westphal (CO) | 2 |
2 | Devin Hall Devin Hall 6'0" | PG Germantown | 2025 State TN |
Facing Madison County, a smaller team, Boom City did well to get into the lane. Jarvis Palmer completed an and-1 almost immediately. Jarvis proved to be a solid two-way player with comfort around the rim. His strength is not obvious at first glance, but apparent after a watch. Palmer finished with 13 points (6-7 FG) in just 15 minutes played.
Chandler Gamble Chandler Gamble 6'6" | PF South Greene | 2025 State TN scored the most points (17), largely by shooting from deep and getting to the free throw line. Chandler is quite advanced and obviously taller. He needs to improve his second-jump quickness. Otherwise, he looks ready to dominate at the high school level this season.
The game of KJ Smith looked a little ragged, in that he missed 80% of his free throws. His six assists did help the team though.
Chandler worked a little high-low with Kason Westphal. Unlike Gamble, Kason is still adapting to his tall body. There is some typical awkwardness in his movements that is almost certainly attributed to his growth spurt and the adaptation to his newest height and size. Kason’s balance is pretty good. He catches with soft hands. He needs to get a little stronger in the shoulders and arms, because he missed a couple of layups/dunks that he will make in the coming years simply because the defender hit him on the arm or side.
Brian Carter Jr. Brian Carter Jr. 6'6" | SG Ridgeway | 2024 State TN bit on a pump fake frankly looked like a rookie mistake. This game was a quiet one for BC, though he did amass five assists. Carter was an aggressive scorer for both Ridgeway High School and the Memphis Knights in early May.
JaDyn Lee and Jarvis Palmer played the most consistent on defense. Lee did very well to keep active and yet patient. He did not get tricked by some very sharp, stabbing feet.
Lee made a smooth, challenged layup on the break after one of his better defensive possessions.
Marquis Tunstall Marquis Tunstall 5'11" | PG Power Center Academy | 2024 State TN (Power Center Academy) is one to watch. The 5-foot-11 guard is a penetrator with shooting touch. He plays pesky and fast but does not make mistakes by over-dribbling.
Tunstall earned Regional Tournament MVP for PCA in February.
