Obviously, everyone dreams of playing at that level and the chances of being seen always provides a little extra buzz in the air. However, for the overwhelming vast majority of prospects, those Division I coaches aren’t coming anyway. That makes weekends like this last one at the Bill Hensley Memorial Run ‘N Slam so important. For Division II, Division II, and NAIA programs this is the premier recruiting event of the spring. That was certainly proven in Fort Wayne this weekend with the excellent turnout by coaches at those levels. Here are eight prospects from the state of Indiana that came onto the scene and made their presence known while potentially capturing the attention of some college programs.
Here at Prep Hoops Indiana, we’ve long been high on the upside of this prospect out of Hammond Central High School. However, he has always flown under the radar statewide and probably hasn’t gotten the attention he deserves. Doty helped himself garner some interest this weekend in Fort Wayne with strong play for Anchor Basketball 2024. He has grown to a legitimate 6’6″ with excellent length and athleticism. If you are looking for a forward that can score at the rim, rebound his area, and block shots this is a name to follow heading into the summer.
College programs are always looking for size on the recruiting trail and this 6’9″ prospect certainly has plenty of it. Duncan continues to get more and more comfortable as a back to the basket scorer and that was on display in Fort Wayne this weekend. He can catch the ball on the block and score over his left shoulder, rebounds his area well, and can disrupt shots on the defensive end of the floor. His development is something to continue watching for Indiana Ice 2024 – Adidas Gold in the coming months.

Ford really stood out with impressive physical tools and some blossoming skill to go along with it. Being transparent, he wasn’t a guy I was really even aware of prior to the Run ‘N Slam. Seeing the way he moves around the floor, finishes at the rim, and even stretches out beyond the three-point arc really got me intrigued. His 6’6″ long, athletic frame certainly doesn’t hurt him as a prospect either. An under-the-radar name to keep an eye on this spring and summer for Indiana Ice 2024 – Adidas Gold.
After being a key piece of Delta’s run to the Class 3A Semi-State, Furney has continued his strong play so far this spring with All Area Basketball 2024. He is an athletic 6’1″ guard that is at his best playing in transition and attacking the basket off of the dribble. However, he also showcases a smooth jump shot and the ability to score from beyond the arc as well. If you are in search of a hard-nosed, two-way guard then Furney should be someone you check out in the coming months.
Lewis is an aggressive guard that can make plays off of the dribble both for himself and his teammates. He is quick in a straight line with the ball, gets into the paint consistently, and has shown the ability to be a tenacious on-ball defender as well. After a breakout junior season at Canterbury, Lewis has continued to play well this spring for Total Package Elite. His is a name to remember while building a list of guys worth watching and tracking as we approach the summer.

One thing you know about Minix is that he can flat out shoot the basketball. He has certainly done that this spring for 5Star 2024 on the Adidas Gold circuit, but his improved playmaking ability and athleticism off of the bounce is what has really stood out. The 6’2″ guard had a productive weekend in Fort Wayne helping lead his team to a 4-2 overall record.

After having to play Junior Varsity last season due to transferring into Columbia City, Mulligan is starting to make a name for himself as a potential prospect this spring for Summit City Elite 2024 – Black. He has good size on the wing, shoots the ball well from beyond the arc, and shows off a little playmaking ability off of the bounce as well. The 6’4″ guard certainly had some flashes this weekend at the Run ‘N Slam. Keep an eye on him going forward.
Sims certainly isn’t a new name to those in southern Indiana are who follow Prep Hoops Indiana closely, but he is still under-the-radar on a statewide basis. He had two excellent seasons at Edgewood before transferring over to Bloomington South for his junior season. Now, the physical 6’2″ guard played well on the big stage at the Run ‘N Slam over the weekend. Sims was excellent in the mid-range scoring it off of the bounce consistently and finishing at the rack as well. Rebounds well from the guard spot too. Remember the name for Indiana Red 2024.
