Continue ReadingLeon Cain was up there with the most impressive point guards in the field this weekend. Cain keeps the ball on a string, a tight handle that rarely gets ripped. He’s skilled and creative offensively, utilized the mid-range game effectively, and had some tough finishes at the cup. From what I saw this weekend, Cain looks like the kind of guard that could thrive at the D2 level.

Cameron Hunter
Cameron Hunter
Cameron Hunter was the difference maker for Strong Center this weekend, stepping up in some big moments and making plays on both ends of the floor. Hunter hit a buzzer-beater three in the semis and finished with 15 in that one to send Strong Center to the championship. Hunter provides good size, athleticism and a ton of activity on the perimeter. At the very least, Hunter can be effective as a 3 & D guy but has the foundation to develop into much more.

led the scoring charge for the Virginia Havoc this weekend, hitting tough shots from all over the floor. In a matchup with G5 Elite that came down to the wire, Mise hit two free throws to tie the game and then hit the game-winning three to finish it. Mise is proficient at working off the ball and hunting open looks, connecting on them more often than not. He put up consistently solid numbers all spring and will look to carry that momentum into the summer months.

Team Brown garnered a lot of positive attention this weekend in Hampton, the duo of Jayden Wiggins and Omar Banks torching defenses left and right. Wiggins offered a reliable backcourt presence and a spot-up shooter when Omar Banks collapsed defenses. He showed a willingness to crash the boards as well that rewarded him with some easy second-chance points. Averaged 12 PPG on the weekend and earned MVP honors in the consolation championship.

Casey Jones
Fresh off his commitment to Morehouse, Casey Jones showed up in Hampton this weekend and showed why he’s headed to play D2 ball next year. Jones came out firing in the first game and never let up. He’s a knockdown shooter and hit a ton of three-pointers throughout the weekend. When he doesn’t have the ball in his hands, Jones is constantly hunting open looks. As Jones closes the page on his high school career, he’s making sure that he goes out on top.
