BATL: Minnesota Select Ohnstad vs MN Lightning King 16U

Brogan Madson Brogan Madson 6'1″ | PG Mankato East | 2025 State MN showcased how you can be one of the most important players on the floor without scoring a lot of points. He collected 12 assists, had a block, a handful of rebounds and 2 steals. Madson dictated the flow of the offense, setting the stage making sure Select Ohnstad was doing what they’re supposed to be doing. His advantage passing vision enabled easy baskets inside for post players, and his timing and flow gave perimeter teammates opportunities for open 3’s. Defensively Madson held up strong on many drives, particularly while guarding Lightning’s own offensive maestro.

Duke Richardson Duke Richardson 6'2″ | CG Minnetonka | 2025 State MN is a six-foot-two-inch guard from Minnetonka playing MN Select Ohnstad. The 2025 guard is a very good athlete, moves exceptionally well vertically and horizontally. Richardson seems to have little issue playing off the ball with Madson, and is a strong stop-up shooter. As a secondary ball handler, Richardson had 6 assists as well. Versus Lightning he managed 13 points.

Too many times the Lightning lost Schroeder and Schroeder let them pay. The six-foot-one-inch Shakopee guard made 3 straight 3’s on back-to-back-to-back possessions. For the game he knocked down 5. For the game he finished with 19 points including a tough step-back just inside the arc.

The six-foot-seven-inch forward from Edina dominated inside around the rim scoring lay-ups, and was fantastic on screen and roll with Madson. He showed potential range beyond the 3-point line knocking down a 3. Molhoek was active on the offensive boards as well, and showed ability to anticipate passes with a deflection and a steal.

Ethan Lee Ethan Lee 6'5″ | SF Kasson Mantorville Highschool | 2025 State MN is a six-foot-five-inch wing from Kasson-Mantorville. Lee did a good job attacking the taller man Molhoek on one drive and finished over him with the left. Lee also was a threat on backdoor cuts making 2 different lay-ups in the first half.

Max Dearborn Max Dearborn 6'4″ | SG Byron | 2025 State MN is a six-foot-four inch forward from Byron. Byron kids have a rep for being strong, able bodied players. Dearborn fits the mold like the previous ones. Dearborn showed good passing skills, solid team defender and rebounder, along with aggressive style going to the basket to get buckets inside. Dearborn scored 12 points in the contest.

Evan Weichert Evan Weichert 6'5″ | SF New Prague | 2025 State MN is a six-foot-five-inch guard from New Prague. Weichert is a good secondary ball handler, has good vision to make passes, and high BBIQ around the rim. He just shows the ability to score in many opportunities that are game winning plays.

Zach Driscoll Zach Driscoll 6'1″ | SG Decorah | 2025 State IA is a six-foot-one-inch point guard from MFL Marmac in Iowa. Driscoll showed good poise to lead the Lightning, and facilitated nicely throughout. One back cut lay-up he threw an absolute dart to Lee who finished the lay-up. For the game Driscoll facilitated 5 assists over the game to various teammates.
