On May 5th-7th the Prep Hoops Circuit was in town. We have the Bash in the Desert with teams around the West and even some from the Midwest. Two locations with the Phhacility in Phx/AZ and Inspire Courts in Gilbert/AZ.

I watched as many as the 31 17U teams as I could and ended up seeing 26 of them.

I also caught some 15 and 16U games.

Here were some of the top Shooters I viewed:

[player_tooltip player_id='1446122' first='Josh' last='Baber'] Estrella Foothills (D1 Nation AZ 2024) (Pictured)

A catch and shoot three point shooter. He is a sneaky good athlete and gets into his opponents on defense. He will block shots and rebound and is a good passer. He looked a little stronger and played with huge confidence down the stretch to shoot the ball.

[player_tooltip player_id='1674466' first='Connor' last='Morris'] ALA-Gilbert North (New Mexico D1 2024)

A bigger sized guard hits the three and rebounds and will push the ball on the break and can throw it down. He rebounds well for his position with his size and he is good in the passing lanes. He plays with a high IQ for the game and should make a big leap up this season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1620346' first='Josh' last='McManaway'] McClintock (AZ Gremlins 2025-1)

A quickly growing scoring guard seems to have grown an inch or so. He moves without the ball and relocates to an open spot. He gives hard ball fakes and will go by his defender or do the 1-dribble pull-up from mid-range and he is a very consistent three point shooter.

Weston Van Soest SG 6'0 2024 Murrieta Mesa (Gamepoint Inland Empire )

A scoring guard has a huge IQ and is a catch and shoot three point stud. He relocates consistently to his spots and will pass it so he can get the ball back in his sweet spot from behind the arc. A true floor spacer who should have a big senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1501271' first='Kaleb' last='Hilliard'] AZ Compass Prep (UH Elite 2025)

Another good showing by the scoring lead guard on Sunday. He has a pretty looking stroke with range. He can catch and shoot from the three point line and the gunner has a quick release. He has one of those shots that look good every attempt.

[player_tooltip player_id='1764240' first='Hayden' last='Von Boeckman'] Bruce Randolph (Colorado United Basketball Club 2024)

A decent sized shooting guard is a knockdown three point shooter. He had one of the cleaner strokes I viewed on 17U. He is a little lean but has a tighter handle plus his skill and mind work to get the job done. A nice sleeper from Colorado.

[player_tooltip player_id='1144977' first='Trace' last='Beauchamp'] SG 6'3 2024 Beulah (Pack 2024)

A bigger sized scoring guard has a clip. The lefty has a pretty stroke and he sets up quickly and lets it fly. He squares to the basket and plays with a good awareness for the game on both ends of the court.

[player_tooltip player_id='1632632' first='Artie' last='Carlow'] Bismarck (Pack 2026)

A scoring guard with range on his three point stroke. He has a quick release and was one of the deeper shooters I saw in 15U. He will drive and kick it and has a quick and a shifty handle and gives hard ball fakes.

[player_tooltip player_id='1873694' first='Tyrese' last='Holmes'] Brophy Prep (Grassroots 15)

A bigger guard handles it well and will score from all levels. He has a smooth shooting stroke from mid to the three and made clutch free throws down the stretch to seal the 15U Chip. Yet another quality player for the Broncos.
