Sometimes we don't see new prospects during regular hs season, or because they're at different events other than the one's were attending. PH NorCal makes every effort to see as many new prospects as we can. At this spring showcase we evaluated new prospects. Here's a group in the 2024 class that played well on Saturday at Chabot.

Gus Fried 6'4 Guard Bay City Warriors 17u, University HS

Fried plays a solid floor game. He did well in the overall scheme of things. A 6'4 guard that helps with team rebounding. He handles the ball in transition leading the break, making crisp passes up court. He had a couple of dribble drive kick-outs to open shooters. He has good vision and uses the bounce pass. He has the shoulders squared on the jump shot.

Gus Parsons 6'2 Guard Bay City 17u, University HS

Parsons is a mover, he's in constant motion without the ball, hustling to fill the lanes in transition, and working along the perimeter making sharp cuts to the basket. He's a good ball handling guard who makes the extra pass, and uses a hard dribble drive on his way into the paint. We'll have to see more of him.

Timothy Rayford 5'11 Guard Bay City Warriors 17u, Stuart Hall HS

He was one of the fastest guards on the court with or without the ball. He's fast sprinting up court. He uses his speed along the perimeter to cut to the basket, or his quick first step on the dribble to go by defenders and into the paint for finishes or kick-outs to open shooters. He has good handles and is an excellent passer. He has the lateral speed to stay on ball handlers.

Aleccio Blythe 6'3 Guard, Lakeshow 17's Gonzalez, Carlmont HS

Blythe is a long wing type player, he's is a hard playing prospect with good court speed. He has the foot speed to stay with defenders, his lengthy arms helps him get rebounds, and start the transition break. He shot the ball well from the corner dropping 3's in both games we saw. He used his dribble on occasion to hit the short jumper.

Xion Nichols 6'3 Guard Lakeshow 17's Gonzalez, Kennedy HS

Nichols is athletic and uses his speed on the court to his advantage at times. He has speed pushing the ball in transition. He showed a burst of speed when making his move into the paint off the dribble, he hit the paint jumper, a 3 up top and a few in the corners. He has the speed and quickness to be an excellent defender if he locks in to the idea.

Charles Roark 5'10 PG Team Rampage National 17u, Vacaville HS

We've seen Roark when he's had it going. He's a playmaking guard who does a good job of mixing things up facilitating, or being aggressive looking for points. He's good off the dribble going into the paint using the jump stop, floaters and jumpers. He's a willing passer with court vision.

Josh Neal 6'5 W/F Rose City Ballers 17u Select, Vanden HS

Neal was active around the basket, on one end using his long reach to haul in rebounds, and on the other aggressively getting points in the paint. He showed he could hit the corner 3. He has long strides, covers a lot of ground working his way up court to fill and finish in transition. He's one we'll see again.

Marcos Rosales 6'3 Guard Rose City Ballers 17u Select, Venture Academy HS

He can play multiple positions, and score from different areas on the court. He's always in the mix one way or the other. He's a ball mover, he has the handles to create on the perimeter, he can drive and hit the paint jumper or kick it out. He runs the court in transition passing or finishing. He's an alert defender with lengthy arms to disrupt the passing lanes at times.

Branden Antiporda 6'0 CG SF Work hard Play Hard 17, Serra HS

He looks like a prospect that has to be defended out at the 3pt line. He sets his feet quick, no hesitation release, it goes in. He's a steady ball handler with good vision and passing. He looks for the open players in transition, working on the perimeter and in the post. He threw a nice lob pass for the dunk.

Aadi Malali 6'4 SG/Wing Team California 17's, Dougherty Valley HS

He's an offensive minded prospect who can knock down the 3ptr from the corners. He does a good job running the court looking for open spots for shots, he had a transition dunk, and a couple of follow up rebounds that led to points. He has good length to help on the boards. He's on the Wright's Watch List.

[player_tooltip player_id='1510896' first='Tayden' last='Collins'] 6'5 Forward, The Right Way To Play, Benjamin Holt Academy HS

He has a solid body to score inside, but also showed he can operate working on the perimeter. He had good movement, and passing. He used his dribble to get into the paint. He'll hit the boards and defend his position. We'll see more of him.
