Bloomington. If you were at Kennedy this weekend you saw the favorite Minnesota Fury team win the championship and raise the gold. They were the headliners, while the fun story was the Minnesota Select Fuerte squad who beat Fury Zurn early in the event in pool games, then they beat Fury Muir and Comets Elite before falling to Fury Zurn 64-60 in the rematch. The other two teams in the final four were the Minnesota Comets and Wisconsin Swing top teams. Minnesota Rise and Minnesota Select Mantey won their consolation guys on the other side of the top eight bracket (the Select game was shortened after a bad injury to a Wisconsin player).
Shakopee. The biggest result was the J Sizzle win over Minnesota Spartans 80-77 in what was said to be a great game with a great atmosphere. J SIzzle also beat Pure Prepp and crushed South Dakota Network. Their lone loss was to VMBA Elite who I tried to search for on twitter and google but am not finding much about. Bigg Nation Elite won a couple noteworthy games including a win over a mash-up Lightning unit of unsigned players and a guy here and there from all of their levels. Bigg Nation Elite has now played an impressive 32 games this year!
Appleton. Northstar Titans Wynia got their chance at Pool A action in Appleton, Wisconsin this past weekend and they gave the Wisconsin Playmakers UA Rise team a run before losing by three scores. They also played Milwaukee Trail Blazers to a one score game and beat Elite 8 in a blowout. Also playing in some top games in Appleton was Minnesota Lace Up. They played five games highlighted by a win over Just A Game Select.
Memphis. Howard Pulley was in Memphis this past weekend and they went 3-2 defeating Team Iso Joe (Joe Johnson’s Arkansas team), Team Ramey, and Team Rens BC. The losses came to Team DTermined and the Oakland Soldiers second team. The Pulley Panthers are 10-5 in EYCL play which is good for a fourth place spot in the 16 team league.
Lakeville. Twin Cities Elite won the Minnesota Select Memorial Day event with a 61-56 win over Select McGuire in the championship game. It was the Twin Cities Elite Jones team that won the event and they beat a Wisconsin team, Minnesota Dynasty, and then Select to earn the weekend championship.
