Elite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) have begun the annual ritual of announcing that they will transfer high schools for 2023-24. With the NCAA transfer portal jamming up high school recruiting, we expect there will be a host of extremely talented players who switch schools this spring/summer. Many of them will reclass into a later graduate year.

At Prephoops.com we will do our best to track all the player movements and pass that information on to our readers.

Below is the third installment in our Transfer Watch 2023 series.

[player_tooltip player_id='1173984' first='Matt' last='Gilhool'] – 6'9" / Junior / Long Island Lutheran / Philly Pride UAA / Power Forward: In 2022-23 while playing for the Westtown School, this stretch-4 style forward averaged 10.7 points and 8.4 rebounds per game. Gilhool is an athletic and versatile lefty who runs the floor like a wing, shoots the 3-ball and can bang on the interior. Gilhool's mid-range game is filthy.

His ability to operate in tight spaces like a guard is extremely impressive too. Gilhool now holds a dozen DI offers. But before he chooses a college, Gilhool will transfer to Long Island Lutheran (NY) for his senior season.

[player_tooltip player_id='1589405' first='Thaddeus' last='Lee'] – 6'7” / Junior / Mercersburg Academy / York Ballers / Small Forward: This former Lancaster Catholic standout caught the attention of scouts and college coaches with a breakout 2022-23 season. Lee is a long and fast prospect who does his damage from the mid-range and in. Plus, Lee can fill a lane on the break and finish through contact. This winter he averaged 18.4 points to go along with 9 rebounds per game. Lee posted a season high 32 points against Elco. His outstanding season was rewarded with a 1st Team All-Lancaster-Lebanon (Section 3) selection. In addition to transferring to Mercersburg, Lee will reclass into the 2025 graduate year.

[player_tooltip player_id='1279628' first='Aris' last='Rodriguez'] – 6'6″ / Senior / Spire Academy (OH) / Team Final Red / Combo Guard: From July 2022 through this past high school season, Rodriguez was one of our biggest stock risers in the Class of 2023. With his elite athleticism and significant hops, Rodriguez (1st Team All-Berks selection) is unstoppable in transition. In the half court Rodriguez can score at all three levels. During the current spring grassroots circuit, Rodriguez proved he could also run as a point guard if needed. In 2022-23 Rodriguez averaged 14 points per contest and registered 52 made threes. He was a key part of Reading's run to the 6A state title. Earlier this week Rodriguez announced that he will jump to Spire Academy (OH) for a post graduate year.

Joe Segal – 6'5” / Freshman / Mercersburg Academy / True Vision Elite / Wing: Segal comes to Mercersburg from London, England where he consistently dominated while playing against U18 competition. Segal is a high percentage 3-point shooter. He can operate out of the high post as well. What catches you by surprise about Segal is his agility, ability to change pace with the dribble and his hops. That trifecta enables Segal to lead the fast break or fill a lane and then dunk on an opponent's head.

[player_tooltip player_id='1867334' first='Ryan' last='Warren'] – 6'6” / Junior / Academy of New Church / Philly Pride Select / Small Forward: After starting seventeen games for LaSalle CHSlast season, Warren recently announced that he will transfer to ANC and reclass into 2025 graduate year. In 2022-23 he averaged 5 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Simply put, Warren is a versatile playmaker at both ends of the court. On offense he can shoot jumpers from all over the floor, score off the dribble and work the offensive glass for buckets. He is an underrated distributor too. On defense, his length, lateral quickness, and basketball IQ makes Warren extremely switchable. As a bonus, he is a tenacious rebounder.
