Continue ReadingElite prospects from southeastern Pennsylvania (and beyond) have begun the annual ritual of transferring high schools. With the NCAA transfer portal jamming up high school recruiting, we expect there will be a host of extremely talented players who switch schools this spring/summer. Many of them will reclass into a later graduate year.
At Prephoops.com we will do our best to track all the player movements and pass that information on to our readers.
Below is the first installment in our Transfer Watch 2023 series.
Caleb Alston-Nelson – 6’6” / Junior / Academy of New Church / K-Low Elite / Small Forward: Flying under the radar on the loaded 2022-23 SCH Academy roster was this long and athletic lefty. Alston-Nelson is a beast of the offensive glass, runs the floor extremely well and can hit baseline as well as mid-range jumpers. This season he posted a double-double of 12 points and 11 rebounds against Rocktop Academy. In addition to transferring to ANC, Alston-Nelson will reclass into the 2025 graduate year.
Kody Colson Kody Colson 5'10" | PG Imhotep Charter | 2026 State PA – 5’11” / Freshman / Imhotep Charter / Team Final Red / Combo Guard: A starter at the Shipley School this past season, Colson (8 ppg. & 2 apg.) will be joining the 5A state champion Imhotep Charter program for 2023-24. Colson is a multi-skilled guard who can score via jumpers from all over the court, in pick-n-roll action and dribble drives. He can also play as a distributing lead guard who directs a team in their half-court sets.
Lucas Orchard Lucas Orchard 6'4" | SF Devon Prep | 2023 State PA – 6’4″ / Senior / Perkiomen School / Prim3 Tim3 / Wing: Orchard is a long and tenacious athlete who for the last three years has been one of the top Swiss Army knife style prospects in the region. In 2021-22 Orchard’s astonishing versatility helped push Devon Prep to the 3A state title. During his senior campaign Orchard averaged 13 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals per game. This season he poured in 27 points vs. Rutgers Prep (NJ) and notched 23 points (2 threes) in a win over Conwell-Egan. Orchard holds an offer from Monmouth but has decided to take a post graduate year at Perkiomen School.
Kevin Saenz Kevin Saenz 6'3" | SF Exeter | 2024 State PA – 6’4″ / Junior / St. Benedict’s Prep (NJ) / PMT Warriors / Wing: One of the breakout stars from Exeter’s amazing run to the 5A state championship game (Loss to Imhotep Charter) is taking his talents to North Jersey. Next year Saenz will attend powerhouse St. Benedict’s Prep and reclass into 2025 graduate year. This past winter he averaged 14 points, 4.7 dimes and 4 boards per game. Saenz is a fast and long backcourt prospect who can get buckets at every level. His size, athleticism, and lateral quickness enable him to guard 1 through 4.
