SubscribeThese freshmen are starting us off with some gems in some of the opening games of the weekend. Bigs, guards, you name it, the 15U division has brought out some of the best from the surrounding area and should lead to some even better games Saturday as these standouts take the floor to round out the weekend. Here are just a few of the top 15U players I saw from Friday at the Spring Kick Off.

Wright was a presence all game long against BDH Elite, protecting the rim and showing great awareness from the post, knowing when to attack and when to reset. He has a good head for how to handle pressure in the post and already shows the type of aggression you look for in a big guy looking to make his mark around the paint.
Zamora is a pacy guard who uses his quicks and clever brain to slice through defenses before they are even set. He seemed to always search for the rim once the ball touched his hands against Colorado Titans Gold. His team was down big early, but zoomed back with some downhill action from Zamora, who set the pace for much of the second half.
The BDH Elite combo guard showed some guts Friday evening as one of the main scoring catalysts from the perimeter for his team. Chipping in a few defensive plays and taking on crucial moments, Bierlink helped BDH Elite fight through some up and down moments to nearly pull out the victory at the end of regulation.
Vega was another reliable ballhandler for the New Mexico squad, who was able to get in between defenders and work his way to the rim where he finished with strength over the top of defenders. He was pretty active all around the court but seemed to really thrive getting out in transition to either run a break or get on the end of one.
Weimer was one of the more physically impressive players of the day. He started at center for his high school team but showed he has the skills to develop into a skilled two-way player on the perimeter as well. He took taller, slower-footed players off the dribble, crossing and spinning his way to the hoop. Racked up the rebounds, and acted as a defensive stopper against a hot shooting Caden Braketa of B&B Academy 2026.
Bebout was one of the first players I saw from the day and right away he impressed me with his fluidity and length, and how he used that combo to make defensive plays in the paint and quickly start the offensive going the other way. He has a good eye for blocking shots, exhibits the patience good shot-blockers have to stay on their feet until the last moment. And he has a good enough handle to start a break himself and push the ball up the floor.
