Previously, I touched base on who stood out on Saturday and Sunday, as well as my picks for the all-tournament team. Be sure to check those out if you haven’t. This last piece I have on the Grand Rapids event covers the best shooters I saw throughout the weekend.
Mason Parker Mason Parker PG Troy | 2025 State MI
Mason was the most ball-dominant shooter throughout the weekend, meaning he created his shot more than any other prospect I saw. His ability to shake his man off with a crossover or step back freed Mason up all weekend to take good looks from the perimeter. I thought his shot was consistent and fluid, and he did a good job of setting his feet under him when he shot.
Peyton Fitzsimonds
Peyton was deadly from the right side of the floor all weekend long, doing the majority of his damage out on the perimeter. The one thing about Peyton’s performance that stood out the most was his court and spatial awareness. He showed a heightened understanding of where he was in a grove with his shot and he routinely got to those spots and executed. Peyton’s ability to knock down threes, even some contested ones off the bounce with a step back was equally impressive.
Jacek Haight Jacek Haight 5'11" | SG Allendale | 2024 State MI
Jacek stayed busy working without the ball, fighting through screens, and running all over the halfcourt to find an open space. I thought Jacek made a lot of heads-up plays when it came to where to position himself within his team’s flow of the offense. He routinely knocked down threes, and spaced himself accordingly, allowing his teammates to have wider driving lanes as a result.
Bryce Wine
Arguably one of the best statistical performances of any athlete at the event, Bryce knocked down nearly 50% of his long-range shots, hitting 8-of-17 triples. Probably the most impressive aspect of Bryce’s game was his ability to stay ready at any given moment to get his shot off. Additionally, Bryce made a number of plays to set up his teammates, and he was active on the boards.
Colton Dysinger
Colton operated as the lead guard for REAL Academy ’24, dishing out assists and commanding the offense en route to a 3-1 showing. Colton also knocked down his fair share of threes including some big-time shots in crunch time that effectively sealed the win for REAL. Colton stayed consistent with his jumper, let the flow of the offense dictate when he took those shots, and never went out of his way to hunt for a bad look.
Carter Gensch Carter Gensch 6'4" | SG Hemlock | 2024 State MI
Carter stood out to me as the prospect with the hardest jumper to defend from distance. His length and wingspan allow him to get his shot off in tight spaces, even with a defender in his face. He gets good lift on his jumper and his form isn’t comprised from further distances. I don’t have stats for his shooting, but here’s a look at a clip from his junior high school season.
