The HGSL, which is Hoop Group’s circuit, features some of the top teams from across the country, with an endless amount of prospects for all levels.
Here’s a look at some of the HGSL Prospects to keep an eye on from DC and Maryland teams in attendance.
Jason Clarke | 6’1” PG | Washington Warriors HGSL
Clarke is one of the most underrated players in the DMV, as he had a huge junior season for Word of Life and was one of the top scoring guards in the state. The 6’1” lead guard is a strong guard who can get downhill and play through traffic, he’s shifty off the bounce and knows how to get by defenders or create space to make shots which he can do from all three levels and he has an edge to him as he’s going to come at you over and over again.
Jalen St. Clair | 5’11” PG | Washington Warriors HGSL ’25
St. Clair is a teammate of Clarke’s and is playing up on this Warriors squad because his skill set offensively and tenacity defensively negates his size and makes him very impactful. Offensively he has the ball on a string and knows how to change speeds and directions well, he can move off the ball where he’s a knock down shooter with deep range and defensively he hounds ball handlers the length of the floor.
Jayden Brown Jayden Brown 6'6" | SF St. Andrews Episcopal | 2024 State MD | 6’6” WF | New World Gold
Brown is one of the more under recruited prospects in the DMV as the St. Andrew’s wing has a lot of upside and intrigue long term, as he has the size and athleticism to go along with a budding skillset. He has a basketball build and will fill out as he gets in a college weight program, he can put it on the deck and get downhill where he’s a good finisher in traffic and he has huge upside defensively as he can guard multiple positions.
Geronimo Clark | 6’5” WF | New World Gold ’25
Clark is an intriguing prospect that’s playing up on this New World team, and with his playmaking ability at his size he’s a walking mismatch for most teams. He’s a strong 6’5” wing who gets downhill and is able to finish through contact, he has good vision when he touches the paint and makes the right read more often than not and he is a good athlete who can play above the rim and protect it defensively.
Jarvis Wright Jarvis Wright 6'3" | SF St. Maria Goretti | 2024 State MD | 6’3” WF | Global Squad
Wright really came on strong as the high school season progressed for St. Maria Goretti, and he could jump on the radar this summer with this Global Squad team. The 6’3” forward is instant offense as he can get hot quickly and score the ball in bunches, he’s strong and quick with the ball in his hands and he can get downhill and finish at the rim and he has become a more consistent shooter over the past year or so.
Braden Sauritch | 6’0” CG | Global Squad
Sauritch is a relatively unknown prospect who could burst onto the scene this summer, as the 6’0” guard is as skilled as they come and he simply makes winning plays. He’s a good ball handler who can handle pressure and is excellent in the pick-and-roll, he’s a knock down shooter form deep with effortless range and he has a toughness about him as he competes on both ends of the floor.
Allen Mordi Allen Mordi 6'6" | PF Mt. Carmel | 2023 MD | 6’6” PF | Team Thrill HGSL ’23
Mordi will be one of the better available seniors in Pittsburgh, as he has an intriguing blend of size, skill and upside that makes him worth a look for a late scholarship. He’s versatile at his size as he can play inside-out, he can guard multiple positions on the defensive end and he is a stat sheet stuffer who can impact the game whether he’s scoring or not.
Dorrian Sands | 6’2” WG | Team Thrill HGSL
Sands is coming off of a big junior season at Carver Vo-Tech where he was the leading scorer for them, and he could turn some heads with his ability to fill it up. The 6’2” scoring guard has the ability to make tough shots from deep on the move and off the bounce, he gets in the lane where he’s a good finisher both at the rim and in the midrange and he plays with a chip on his shoulder as well.
