I watched a lot of 15 and 16U with some 17U games as well. This was one of the biggest events AZ has had in a while with 400+ teams from the Southwest.
Here are some of the Best Performances
DeNali McNeal DeNali McNeal 6'3" | CG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Canyon View (AZ Venom)
A combo guard with a high feel for the game. He changes speeds well and can get to the basket to score on contested layups amidst heavy traffic. He can hit the catch three and rise up from mid-range. His length allows him to bother the opposing ball handlers and sees the court well with up the court passes and drive and kicks. He made two clutch free throws to ice it.
Caden Bass Caden Bass 6'4" | CG Paragon Science Academy | 2026 State AZ Peoria (AZ Storm 16 Gold)
A combo guard gets to the rim with ease. He can burst in the lane and finish off runners and floaters using his size. He can knock down three point shots off the catch or pull and has a smooth game. He can shoot the three off the bounce and will give and go to the basket. He scored 20+ points.
John Mattingly John Mattingly 6'0" | PG Sunnyslope | 2026 State AZ Sunnyslope (Monstarz 17)
It was almost too easy for him at times. He gets to all his spots on the court he wants. He creates his own offense almost at will. His ability to change speeds separates him from most and then will finish with either hand and his euro game is on point. He makes live dribble passes about as well as you can. He has deep range when he is not diming his teammates. He scored 20+ points.
Will Feagles Will Feagles 6'3" | SG Notre Dame Prep | 2025 State AZ Notre Dame Prep (AZ Select Craig 16) (Pictured)
His catch three was on fire as he has one of the cleaner strokes in the class and his release is super fast. He also looks noticeably stronger and can absorb contact more. His athleticism is kicking in and he has grown a little too. He is defending better on the ball and had a great weekend. He scored 20+ points.
Adrian Higuera Adrian Higuera 6'0" | PG Millennium | 2027 State AZ Centennial (AZ Storm 16 Gold)
One of the top 8th grade guards makes it look easy. His pull-up from mid-range is already a weapon and he can hit from the three. He separates himself with his tight handle and ability to blow past his defender and lay it in with finger rolls. He is reportedly heading to Centennial.
Colton Watson Colton Watson 6'6" | SF Sandra Day O’Connor | 2026 State AZ Sandra Day O’Connor (Zona Nation 15)
A versatile wing who is a good passer. He can score with a rip thru to the basket and had an impressive dunk after a steal. He will get on the glass with offensive rebound put backs plus score on euro steps to the basket effortlessly with nice body control. He is a capable perimeter shooter but gets to the basket easily. He may of had 25 points with 10+ rebounds.
Travis Vasquez Travis Vasquez 6'2" | PG Deer Valley | 2024 State AZ Deer Valley (AZ Storm 17 Gold)
One of the recent stock risers played well again. He has a high level pull-up from mid-range off the dribble. He can cross over his man and rise up from the perimeter to score. He has good body control to finish off tough layups in traffic. He changes speeds well and his skill and feel pop off the page.
Adam Hubbard Adam Hubbard 6'4" | CG Canyon View | 2025 State AZ Canyon View (Team Rise N Grind)
A combo guard with good size and long arms. He has the deep three with a quick release. He rebounds well and will go up quickly using his size to his advantage. He is a good passer up the court and can drive and kick. He scored an easy 30. Stock up for the long combo guard.
