The talent at the KC Clash was eye-popping. Older guys showcased their talents while young risers gave us a peak at what’s to come. But the impact by a few special players proved they are true “GameChangers.” Here are some guards who made that type of impact (listed by age):
Jason Rodriguez Jason Rodriguez 5'10" | PG Bishop Miege | 2023 State KS , 5-foot-10 guard, 2023, Bishop Miege, KC Spurs:
Fans got one more treat watching the smooth point guard do his thing against the mostly-younger competition. When he plays under control and doesn’t try to do too much, this guy is just a pleasure to watch. Running with an athletic group from the Spurs, Rodriguez displayed his fantastic handle and understanding of how to exploit angles and openings. He’s more athletic than you suspect because he looks so effortless.
Logan Bishop Logan Bishop 6'2" | SG Lee's Summit West | 2024 State MO , 6-foot-2 guard, 2024, Lee’s Summit West, KC Spurs:
On a really gifted group, Bishop stood out over the weekend. He’s got length to get shots off and he gets to the right spots to pull the trigger. He plays with a high motor and runs the floor to contribute in every area, but it was his shooting that made him a GameChanger. Teams have to respect him from beyond the arc, opening up the floor for slashers.
Tristan Johnson, 5-foot-10 guard, 2025, Gardner-Edgerton, LTD Select Light Blue 2025:
Johnson was a scoring dynamo for LTD Select. His team was frequently in need of points, and Johnson was a GameChanger in his ability to score. He showed he can create his own opportunities. He can get into the paint and create space with Euro steps, fadeaways and step backs. He probes defenses on the bounce and uses his strength to hold off defenders. Johnson got to the line repeatedly because he poses such a challenge on the bounce. If defenders respect his drive too much, he can also connect from deep.
Blayne Marshall Blayne Marshall 6'1" | PG Blue Springs South | 2026 State MO , 6-foot guard, 2026, Bishop Miege, Marcus Denmon 2026:
The Denmon team has a lot of options at guard. But when the game was on the line, it was Marshall getting most of the minutes. His athleticism and relentless playmaking earned him the GameChanger label at the Kansas City Clash. This guy has the size, strength and quickness to make every play at the guard spot. He seems capable of playing the way coaches wish everyone could: fast but under control. He is a playmaker at the defensive end, jumping passing lanes and poking away dribbles. He creates tons of shots on the perimeter by driving deep into the paint and then kicking it out accurately.
Kenny McFall, 5-foot-7 guard, 2026, Shawnee Mission East, KC Kings Elite 2026:
McFall was a revelation at the Kansas City Clash. Every scout who watched the KC Kings came away remarking at his ability to get in the paint and hit acrobatic shots. He has a slick handle and a brilliant crossover to get by a defender. He can knife into the paint and then get shots off from a variety of angles. The most impressive thing about McFall, and what makes him a GameChager, is his seemingly limitless confidence. He doesn’t back away from any defender and attacks fearlessly.
