Rico Hernandez
Rico Hernandez
If Hernandez wasn’t the best pure shooter among the 17U group at the Jayhawk Jam, he’s in very limited company. He can get his shot off quickly and hands in his face don’t faze him. He’s got great length to his shot and he hit a high percentage. Hernandez is more than just a shooter. He’s got a capable handle and vision to find the open man. His athleticism and quickness plays on defense and even on the boards despite his size.
Guinnee stood out as an attacking guard who plays with intensity but remains under control. He made some great drives to score and to draw defenders and create space for shooters. His athleticism created turnovers and led to runouts. He also showed ability to hit from deep. He stood out as a leader from the guard spot for a good team.
Highlights
Jack Hessel
Jack Hessel
A rugged forward who made a ton of plays for a competitive AEF team, Hessel is a scorer. He can get creates shots and finish with his physical style. He’s capable of putting the ball on the floor and finding lanes to get to the goal. He gets deep and then finishes well around the goal. Hessel helped with ballhandling. And on defense, he drew the opponents’ big men and never backed down.
A talented sophomore playing up, Mosley showed off a mature understanding of how to impact the game without taking a ton of attempts. He plays with power to the goal and uses his length to get of a variety of shots that all are quality looks. On Sunday, he moved without the ball to make himself available, and sliced to the goal off the bounce. He defended at a high level in fast-paced action.
Williams is an athletic playmaker who was consistently active and productive for a team full of talent. His left-handed shot was a threat from deep, and he made a lot of plays going to the goal through contact. He frequently drove to drop the ball off to a post or kick it to an open shooter. The best part of Williams’ game is his energy and willingness to put his body in harm’s way. He crashes the glass and is on the floor for every loose ball. With scorers all around him, Williams consistently produced points.
