James Allen
James Allen
Allen showed off a lot of skills to go with his physical ability and knack for impacting play in the paint. Several times he put the ball on the floor in the open court, demonstrating a nice handle and the ability to cover ground with his long strides. He’s a springy player in the paint who blocks shots and affects drivers. He is an impactful rebounder. He posts up and finishes through defenders.
Gordon Fineday

Fineday latched on with the North Dakota Akichita 17U team for the weekend and made an impact immediately. On a team made up mostly of small, pesky guards, Fineday provided length and spring in the post. Despite giving up a lot of size to opposing big men, he protected the paint and grabbed a lot of boards. With a team that ran and moved the ball quickly, Fineday’s ability to keep up with the pace was crucial. He showed good spring, fine hands and a lot of endurance during two fast-paced games.
Jalen Manning

On a team made of mainly of 2023s, Manning was the hero of the second game of the day, drilling a big three-pointer in the final seconds for the win. Manning is a small, solidly built point man who confidently runs the show. He’s a speedy guard who dives to the paint and then kicks to shooters or makes impressive passes to posts in traffic. Though he’s a distribute-first point guard, he showed he is dangerous from the arc.
Nixon showed off his power on the drive, getting into the paint to score off the bounce. He is a strong and rugged defender in the paint, but can also guard on the perimeter. Offensively, he has a dangerous touch from deep and is a constant threat. His versatility and ability to guard and rebound stood out on Saturday.

There were a lot of impressive athletes in the gym Saturday, but Phillips (pictured) stood out for his combination of explosion, quickness and length. Phillips slashed to the goal, pushed the ball end to end, chased down plays in transition and threw down an impressive dunk. He is a dynamic defender because he combines his athleticism with anticipation and intelligence.
