2024 All-In and M14 Adidas Teams got Size, Grit
These two top-tier 17U programs squared off Friday evening. Quite a few players stood out, particularly for All-In. 6’6 Forward Alex Daniels Alex Daniels 6'5" | SF Warren | 2024 State IL has build and physical qualities of a college-level player. Something that’s oftentimes not picked up until players are in college. He has the strength to back down opponents and the speed to drive down the lane. Daniels also drained a spot-up three in the second half. Another forward, Jack Dabbs, is a three-level scorer with long arms and a solid shooting stroke. He led all-in with 19 points and made key shots late in the game for the win. But it wasn’t just his scoring, as he made a key pass to Daniels late in the game and also snagged a defensive board over three opponents. On the other side, Guard CJ Savage CJ Savage 5'10" | PG West Aurora | 2024 State IL displayed excellent confidence getting to the basket and had lots of confidence shooting outside the arc. He’s a highly physical point guard for someone of his size. He had eight early points and finished with 11. Jeffrey Fleming Jeffrey Fleming 6'4" | SG Plainfield North | 2024 State IL led the M14 with 17 points.
Learned a ton about AUSA Hoops
Who would have thought teams from the land down under would compete in the Prep Hoops Circuit? Well that’s the case for five teams this weekend. AUSA hoops has five teams of about ten players or so each which were sorted based more on scheme and less on skill, according to one of their players. Players from all over the country tried out for teams who would prepare for a three-weekend tour on the circuit. This is their first event before the showcases in Indianapolis and Minneapolis coming up. On Team Zach (2024) an athletic guard/forward named Raymond Saungweme showed off a high motor and an excellent touch around the rim. He’s Physical finisher through contact and quick with the ball. In addition, Koch-Deng Koch shows lots of length and versatility down low.
