Homewood Flossmoor’s lead guard was an offensive juggernaut. He has explosive quickness that combines with crafty finishes in the paint. There were times where he shouldered the scoring load for Team Rose for extended stretches. Interesting to see how he progresses as he continues to add strength to his frame.
Colby Smith Colby Smith 6'3" | PG New Trier | 2025 State IL (Full Package 16U): The New Trier combo guard was extremely efficient all weekend. At 6’2, he has prototype size for the point guard position. What impressed me the most, is that he is a 3 level scorer who can score off the dribble or catch and shoot. He consistently used shifty crossover moves to get the rim or to pull up jump shots. He is a very good athlete, with the ability to burst past defenders and play above the rim. He was dynamic in a Sunday win over Team Rose. I am extremely high on Colby!
Jax Abalos Jax Abalos 6'7" | SF Batavia | 2025 State IL (M14 Hoops 16U): I was very impressed with M14 Hoops the entire weekend at all levels. That being said Jax stood out to me the most. At 6’4 the physically built guard got to wherever he wanted on the court, utilizing straight line drives and using his physicality to bump his way to tough finishes. He also showed the ability to knock down shots from 3 as well as the midrange. I have an appreciation for the confidence that the Batavia wing exudes. He expects to win and play well, and that energy is contagious.
Makai Kvamme Makai Kvamme 6'0" | PG DePaul Prep | 2025 State IL (All In 16U): Fresh off of an Illinois State Championship, Makai was quite effective over the weekend. Makai has always been noted for his high IQ and his ability to run a team, but this weekend he showed his ability to score at a high clip! Going for over 20 pts in the game that I watched. Makai is one of the top floor generals in his class, if he continues to combine scoring and facilitating for others, LOOK OUT!
Brady Sehlhorst Brady Sehlhorst 6'6" | SF Niles Notre Dame | 2025 State IL (Team Rose 16U): The 6’7 wing showed why he is one of the more intriguing prospects in Illinois. He showed the ability to make shots, attack the basket for finishes, and showed to be an underrated passer. As Brady commits to physically getting stronger his stock will take a major uptick.
Al Brooks Al Brooks 6'6" | SF Hansberry | 2025 State #239 Nation IL Jr (Grit N Grind 17U): My first time actually seeing him, and I walked away very impressed. Playing up a level, he has all the tools and skills set to be a player at the next level. At 6’7 his ability run, finish above the rim and slash stood out to me. He is oozing with upside! As he continues to focus on playing hard every possession the sky is the limit for Mr. Brooks.
