The event starts at 9 AM with the last game set at 8 PM, and features some of the best prospects in VA, NC and the DMV areas.
Here’s a look at part two of the many 17U prospects to watch for at the event.
If you can’t make it, all the games will be live streamed on the CBG Live Network.
Rob Dockery | 6’7” WF | Team Loaded VA
Dockery returns to Loaded after playing on their 17U team last year where he broke out on the 3SSB Circuit, and he’s coming off a great junior season at Jackson-Reed. He’s one of the most versatile playmaking wings in the country as he can handle and create for others when he touches the paint, he’s a big time athlete who can play above the rim and he has great instincts as both a scorer and a defender too.
Drew McKenna | 6’7” F | Team Loaded VA
McKenna is one of the most intriguing prospects in the DMV after a stellar junior season for Glenelg County, and he’s going to be one that high major coaches keep a close eye on this summer. At 6’7” he checks all the boxes physically with long arms and a very strong frame, he makes shots consistently from deep and he has the ability to put it on the deck and get to spots where he can rise up and knock down tough shots from multiple levels.
Troy McKoy Troy McKoy 6'4" | SG Cushing Academy (MA) | 2024 #200 Nation NLG | 6’5” WG | Team Loaded VA
McKoy is coming off of a breakout season in the Elite Prep League with Massanutten, and if he plays the way he did during the high school season on the 3SSB Circuit he should have high major coaches knocking down his door. The 6’5” wing is an all-around talent who has a strong frame and uses that frame to rebound and defend against bigger players, he’s a talented scorer who is a knock down shooter off the catch and can create for himself and others off the bounce and he has a knack for coming up big against the best of the best.
Eli Delaurier | 6’8” PF | Team Loaded VA
Delaurier was one of the best juniors in all of VISAA this year helping his Miller School team to a state championship appearance before falling to Highland in heartbreaking fashion, and if he continues that momentum he should see his recruitment pick up big time. The 6’8” forward is a mismatch problem as he can post up and finishes well around the rim, he can pop on the perimeter where he can knock down shots and is a good passer, he runs the floor hard and can play above the rim and he competes defensively both in the paint and when he has to switch.
Jason Penn Jason Penn 6'2" | PG Marshall | 2024 State VA | 6’1” PG | NOVA Cavs
When it comes to floor generals, you won’t find many that are as good as Penn in the DMV area as he can run the show and makes everyone better while doing it. The 6’1” guard has a command of the game as he plays with good pace and changes speeds well, he gets in the paint where he can finish at the rim and in the midrange while also being able to see the floor and make plays for others and he sets the tone defensively with his ability to guard the length of the floor.
Sean Donovan Sean Donovan 6'7" | C W.T. Woodson | 2024 State VA | 6’6” PF | NOVA Cavs
Donovan is coming off of a big season at WT Woodson where he established himself as one of the top big men in the NOVA area, and he’s a nice addition to an already talented NOVA Cavs team. The 6’6” big man has good touch around the rim with an array of post moves at his disposal, he can run the floor and rebounds well on both ends and he can stretch the floor to the three-point line too.
MJ Winstead | 6’1” PG | Local Legends
Winstead had a breakout year at Benedictine this season, and he’s emerging as one of the better guards in the Richmond area. As the go-to guy he was able to showcase his quickness and shifty ability off the bounce, he knocks down shots from deep at a high clip and he’s a capable playmaker and defender as well.
Javon Brooks Javon Brooks 6'2" | CG Carmel | 2024 VA | 6’3” CG | Team Richmond
Brooks had a great year for Carmel School helping to lead them to the VISAA Semifinals, and he could be a breakout guy on the HGSL Circuit with Team Richmond this year. At 6’3” he has a good frame and a lot of ability off the bounce to get downhill and finish, he can move off the ball where he can catch and shoot or catch and rip and he brings good energy defensively and on the glass.
