Jaran Barnett
Jaran Barnett
Super quick up and down the floor, Barnett blazed to a couple of full court baskets by just pushing too fast for the defense to stop him. He’s not big, but he finds ways to get to the goal in transition and to penetrate the lane for kickouts and drop offs. He showed an effective floater on occasion. Barnett is a slick ball handler and a pest at the defensive end.
Alex Casares
Alex Casares
Casares really turned heads at the Kansas City Clash. But if you were paying attention, he had a really nice freshman season on the Shawnee Mission North varsity. He has an advanced feel for how to play the point guard spot, showing nice vision and understanding of how to attack a defense. He’s gritty and athletic enough to control the game.
Blayne Marshall
Blayne Marshall
Arguably the most impressive 2026 guard at the Kansas City Clash, Marshall (pictured) certainly is on people’s minds now. Running with a talented Marcus Denmon team, Marshall took the lion’s share of the minute when the games were in doubt. His coaches looked to him for leadership in those moments. He pushes the pace fearlessly and can get to his own shot in the midrange. Marshall is a physical guard with long arms and a bulldog mentality. Watch for this guy to make a big varsity leap after playing a key reserve role on the third place team in 4A as a freshman.
Kenny McFall
Kenny McFall
This guy may wind up considered more of a shooting guard because he excels so much as a penetrator and shot creator. But he’s got the handle and the supreme confidence to play the point too. He’s not big, but man did he impress at the Kansas City Clash for getting to the midrange and knocking down shots. Even when everyone knew he would try to get to a shot, they couldn’t stop him.
Tye Mwende
Tye Mwende
Playing for the other KC Kings Elite team in the 2026 bracket, Mwende is a little bit like McFall in that he’s more of a scorer than a pure point guard. But he belongs in the conversation because he has the handle and intelligence to play the point. Mwende is a slender, lanky guard who impressed with a couple of point outbursts at the Clash.
