Ronnie Bush
Ronnie Bush
This guy really stood out at the Kansas City event for his ability to impact the game in ways other than shooting. He is super-active on the glass at both ends. He got some put-backs, contributing offensively without needing to be the first option. He’s got great length and jumping ability, allowing him to play much taller than 6-foot-4. He was a good contributor for Schlagle last year. Watch for him to really take a big leap forward this summer.
Braden Mann
Braden Mann
Is he a center? A power forward or small forward? Mann (pictured) has the physique to be a center, and can be effective in the low post. But in Kansas City, he spent a lot of time at the high post, catching passes at the free throw line or out at the arc, dropping passes to the low post or pulling the trigger on perimeter shots. He’s got height to see over defenders, and he puts nice touch on passes to the low post. He’s got a nice stroke and hit several threes over the weekend.
The beneficiary of a lot of Mann’s entry passes, Porter worked well with his club teammate. A 3A high school player at Anderson County, Porter showed what he can do against a lot of big school opponents at the Kansas City Clash. He runs the floor really well for a big man, and he was willing to get in the paint and do the dirty work. He has nice moves and athleticism in the low post, but he also can make plays putting the ball on the floor or catching it and finishing in a dead sprint in transition.
Kai Reed
Kai Reed
Reed is a powerhouse who can body up in the paint or make plays on the perimeter. His strength and athleticism allow him to make plays against bigger players, and his ability to run the floor and face the basket lets him play nearly every position on the floor. He had a solid sophomore season for Piper and is showing a lot of versatility for his Denmon squad.
Drey Steinbacher
Drey Steinbacher
Steinbacher impressed as a long, smooth wing player who can do some of everything. He showed a nice handle, penetrated the paint and attacked the goal effectively. He’s a forward with ball skills. Steinbacher is an athlete who jumps out at you and makes smart, team-first plays at both ends.
John Tucker
John Tucker
Does the flow of good players at Miege ever stop? Tucker is a springy athlete who might be in line to pick up some playing time next year, particularly with some of the graduation losses the Stags will experience. He can put the ball on the floor and shows some shiftiness and blow-by ability. He also demonstrated he can hit from the outside. He is an athlete who can make plays in transition and going to the goal.
