The Headline Match-Ups

As we detailed earlier this morning the Trojans knocked off DeLaSalle in a one score thriller. [player_tooltip player_id='962218' first='Nasir' last='Whitlock'] was outstanding with 31 points and 6 assists while [player_tooltip player_id='1167554' first='Hayden' last='Tibbits'] had 22 with a five score run late that helped his team earn the W. We predicted Wayzata by four, they won by three.

Last night's big upset was Shakopee taking down Lakeville North! The upsets have been constant lately with Osseo beating Totino-Grace, Eden Prairie surprising Wayzata, Edina mauling Buffalo, and of course Elk River knocking off Park Center. Last night it was Shakopee with the 93-90 victory. Huge game from [player_tooltip player_id='1288706' first='Jalen' last='Langsy'] who won the junior PG battle by scoring 23 and [player_tooltip player_id='1226401' first='Termaine' last='Fulton Jr'] stepped up big to score 24.

Do you know where there wasn't an upset? In the Albany/Milaca game. Albany crushed Milaca 90-55 and dropped them to 18-6 on the year. Ezekial Austin had a game high 27 points while future Dragon [player_tooltip player_id='1358621' first='Tysen' last='Gerads'] scored 22 on the night his future Minnesota State-Morehead school won the NSIC.

I wrote "Tigers by three" and maybe it was my way of trying to be correct no matter what (Delano Tigers vs Princeton Tigers). But I meant the Princeton Tigers and it was the Delano Tigers that earned the victory. [player_tooltip player_id='962273' first='Cooper' last='Drews'] had 30 but the "Will to the Max" guard combo scored 50 with [player_tooltip player_id='1284231' first='Will' last='Strandemo'] putting up 29 (for those that are math challenged, Iversen had 21). Good win for Delano.

Mahtomedi beat Tartan 64-51 (we predicted a seven point win for the Zephyrs). [player_tooltip player_id='1221176' first='Owen' last='Carlson'] knocked out five triples scoring 23 points to earn the victory.

The Headliners

How about 6'2 Coon Rapids junior [player_tooltip player_id='1288680' first='Kenny' last='Jones'] taking the missed free throw with a defensive board, taking a dribble and hitting a shot from the opposite volleyball line to beat Elk River 77-76! This is the same Elks team that just upset Park Center, and they fell to the Cards on that make.

Eastview junior [player_tooltip player_id='1287440' first='Jonathan' last='Mekonnen'] scored 32 points with nine rebounds helping his team over Prior Lake in a victory last night.

[player_tooltip player_id='1287439' first='Max' last='Woods'] exploded for 33 points and along the way to that 33 he went over 1,000 points for his career. Chanhassen beat Waconia 76-61 as well.

North Woods 6'2 junior [player_tooltip player_id='2099491' first='Jonah' last='Burnett'] is averaging 24.5 points a game and last night he scored 40 points and went over 1,000 points for his career.
