Austin was dominant all week, posting double-doubles in the Lions’ first two games (21 points, 14 rebounds in the quarterfinals; 20 points, 14 rebounds in the semifinals), and was highly efficient throughout the week, showing his ability to score from all three levels. A bouncy 6-7 forward with great hands, he was sensational in helping deliver a state title to Rock Rapids.

Lutmer was solid all week for the Lions, doing a little bit of everything for his team, and he saved his best performance for last, going off for 25 points, 7 rebounds, and 6 assists in their championship win over Western Christian. The future Iowa football player used his athleticism to control games on both ends of the floor all week.

Van Regenmorter nearly helped carry the Wolfpack to a state championship, showing his ability to score inside and out at an efficient clip. He took over the second half of their semifinal win against Roland-Story and was the key reason that Western Christian pulled away in that one.

The younger Van Regenmorter brother was also excellent throughout the week, showcasing his ability to score around the bucket and make plays out of the mid-and-high post area. When he’s in that area, he’s nearly unstoppable at this level, with a strong mid-range game, the ability to put the ball on the floor and get to the rim, and excellent court vision.

Patton’s quarterfinal performance lands him on this first team, going for 25 points and 22 rebounds in their win over Kuemper Catholic. He looks like a tight end and has the soft hands, physical frame, and athleticism of a potentially dominant small-school college basketball player.
