Ann Arbor Huron
Ann Arbor Pioneer
Saline
Ypsilanti
Ypsilanti Lincoln
PREDICTIONS
Quarterfinals – Ypsilanti Lincoln vs. Ypsilanti (3/6/ 7PM, @ Ypsilanti Lincoln)
Prediction: Ypsilanti Lincoln
Ypsilanti is rebuilding this year and Lincoln has shown the ability to play with, and even beat, some good basketball teams.
Semifinals – Saline vs. Ann Arbor Pioneer
Prediction: Saline
This could be a must see game. It’s a budding rivalry game as the schools are separated by 15 minutes or less. The teams split the pair of game this season, with Pioneer taking the most recent game. Saline held a decent lead in that contest but fell late. I think they’ll be ready to close it out in Round 3.
Ypsilanti Lincoln vs. Ann Arbor Huron (3/8, 7PM, @ Ypsilanti Lincoln)
Prediction: Ann Arbor Huron
Huron has been one of the most impressive teams in the state this season and are looking to cap it off with a deep tournament run. Huron won the previous 2 meetings by double digits and are the favorites to advance.
Championship – Saline vs. Ann Arbor Huron (3/10, 7PM, @ Ypsilanti Lincoln)
Prediction: Ann Arbor Huron
This is a very interesting matchup. They split the regular season matchups with Saline winning the most recent, handing Huron their only loss of the season. I think that the River Rats have enough playmakers to take the rubber match, but don’t be shocked if Saline comes out blazing and gets the upset. Just last night they handed a second team (Olivet) their first loss of the season, so we know they can beat elite teams.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
Moore is a big time talent with tremendous upside. When I mentioned River Rat playmakers above, this is definitely one that fits the bill. He can put the ball on the floor and create and is a multi level scorer. If Moore can efficiently get the ball in the lane, Huron is so tough to beat.
Reed Yuhas
Reed Yuhas
When Yuhas plays well, as does Pioneer. They’ll depend on him to be their floor general throughout districts. If he can help them get off to a hot start against Saline, it will go a long way in determining their success.
Sanderson is an elite freshman in every sense of the word elite. Don’t believe me? Check the prospect rankings when they’re released. He’s a true playmaker with the ball and has a basketball IQ well beyond his years. If Sanderson bring his A game, Saline can win this district.
Jones has proven that he can be a game changing forward. He’s active on the glass and is pretty bouncy around the rim. Jones has a knack for finding high percentage looks at the rim, drawing contact and getting to the free throw line.
