For my final write-up on last weekend's state championships, I have put together my All-Star Team of players from the 12 schools that were in Springfield. This team is made up of players with all different kinds of skill sets.

My Point Guard: [player_tooltip player_id='1070094' first='Kyan' last='Evans'] (Staley): The Colorado State recruit was the maestro of the powerful Staley team that took the Class 6 state title.

My Shooters: Derrick Rivers (Cardinal Ritter) and George Calloway (St Joe Lafayette): Rivers is a 2024 guard with a smooth shooting stroke and the ability to hit timely perimeter shots. Galloway is a 2023 guard who finished his career in dean fashion by hitting eight 3-pointers in the Irish's

My Rebounder: [player_tooltip player_id='1170197' first='Darin' last='Conley'] (Pembroke Hill): It was fun watching the 6'5 2023 power forward's relentless pursuit for rebounds. He was constantly working and was great at getting out of his area to corral boards.

My Lock Down Defender: [player_tooltip player_id='1424408' first='Dierre' last='Hill'] Jr (Vashon): For two games, this 6'0 2025 guard put on a tremendous exhibition of relentless, fundamental unwavering on-ball defense. He moved his feet and hawked the ball while never getting out of position.

My Instant Offense off the Bench: [player_tooltip player_id='1850449' first='Mav' last='Hawkins'] (Pembroke Hill): The 2026 shooting guard came off the bench to average 20 points in two Final Four games while knocking down 12 3-pointers. He entered the game locked and loaded and without any fear.

My Swiss Army Knife: [player_tooltip player_id='1362685' first='Kennard' last='Davis'] Jr (Vashon): Whatever the Wolverines needed, the 6'6 2023 would provide it. He can facilitate offense with his playmaking skills, rebound and score in the post, shoot the 3-pointer and defend. He was the common thread to the Wolverines three consecutive state championships. A tip of the cap also goes to 6'7" [player_tooltip player_id='1419871' first='Xavier' last='Wilson'] of Staley, who also exceled at multiple positions on the court with his size and versatility.

My High Motor Player: [player_tooltip player_id='1440454' first='Cameron' last='Manyawu'] (Staley): When you're 6'9 and 225 pounds with a motor that doesn't stop, good things happen. The Indiana State recruit plays the game at Full Tilt Boogie. The result is dunks, blocked shots and a whole lot of rim runs.

My Low Post Players: [player_tooltip player_id='1161279' first='Kayden' last='Fish'] (Staley) and [player_tooltip player_id='1424921' first='Jordan' last='Martin'] (Jefferson City): If I wanted the ball to go inside, I would get it to the Big Fish, the 6'6" Iowa State transfer who can seal with his big body and finish strong around that basket with the tough drop step. The 6'4" Martin is a 2025 who can almost score at will with his footwork and variety of moves around the basket.

My Enforcer: Tyler Moore (Troy): Whenever there was some physicality happening on the court, this 6'3 2023 forward was in the middle of it. He wasn't afraid to mix it up with anyone and everyone. I was also impressed with the physical toughness displayed by 6'7" 2023 [player_tooltip player_id='1070110' first='Harrison' last='Doennig'] of Kickapoo. The big red-head was a physical player who rebounded well and didn't mind throwing his body around inside.
