Here is the 2023 3A All-Tournament Team:
PG – Luke Gebhardt, 6-foot-1 guard, 2023, Southeast of Saline:
The gritty football player is a dog, defending with tenacity and going for every loose ball. Though he doesn’t really fill the point guard spot full time for the Trojans, he gets this spot in order to get the best players on the team. Gebhardt was effective and efficient with the ball in his hands. He hit 15-26 shots, including 6-10 from deep, for 39 total points. Marysville senior Jack Lauer Jack Lauer 6'1" | SG Marysville | 2023 State KS deserves a mention at this spot. He scored 26 points in the tournament and is always a good leader and distributor.
SG – Micah Dahlsten, 6-foot-2 guard, 2023, Hesston:
Hesston was so good last year, Dahlsten hardly played in the state tournament. But he stepped up in a huge way as a senior to help the team to its third-straight title. He was a threat from deep and an effective second option to help support star Jake Proctor Jake Proctor 6'3" | CG Hesston | 2023 State KS . Dahlsten was dialed in – he hit 13-23 shots and dropped five 3-pointers. He finished with 35 points for the Swathers. Galena sophomore Jack Perry Jack Perry 6'3" | SG Galena | 2025 State KS is a rising shooting guard who was good in the tournament. He got 30 points.
SF – Jake Proctor Jake Proctor 6'3" | CG Hesston | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-4 forward, 2023, Hesston:
It was hard to envision Hesston winning another title back in November. They had to replace just about everybody. But they had one key piece back. After playing a valuable role in back-back-championships, Proctor put the team on his back as a senior. Knowing what it takes come tournament time, Proctor did it all. He ran the offense, hit from outside and scored on the inside, defended and rebounded. He dished out 17 assists in the three game run and scored 50 points. Thus, Proctor contributed to 52% of the Swathers’ total production. Southeast of Saline veteran Nakari Morrical-Palmer Nakari Morrical-Palmer 6'3" | CG Southeast Of Saline | 2023 State KS deserves mention, despite not scoring a ton of points. He had games with 14 and 10 rebounds and also led the Trojans in assists in two games.
PF – Eli Sawyers Eli Sawyers 6'7" | SF Southeast Of Saline | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-5 forward, 2023, Southeast of Saline (pictured):
Prep Hoops has been appreciating Sawyers’ talents for four years. He put it all together in his final action, wrapping up his career with a second-straight third-place finish. Sawyers stepped up his scoring and was more aggressive attacking the goal and pulling the trigger from deep with the chips on the line. Particularly in the all-important semi-final loss to Hesston, Sawyers hit 3-5 from deep and finished with 27 points and 10 rebounds. He racked up 64 points to lead all scorers at the tournament, hitting 25-39 attempts from the field and 11-15 from the line.
C – Tyler Little Tyler Little 6'5" | PF Galena | 2023 State KS , 6-foot-6 center, 2023, Galena:
Like Sawyers, Little has been in the Prep Hoops spotlight for his entire career. He’s been a mainstay at the tournament for four years. He finished with an impressively diverse set of stats. In an impressive feat, Little led Galena in points, rebounds and assists in each of their three games. Little finished with 43 points and 12 assists for the low-scoring Bulldogs. That’s 51% of the Bulldogs’ points. He also grabbed 29 boards.
Sixth Man – Reed Friesen Reed Friesen 6'6" | C Hesston | 2025 State KS , 6-foot-6 center, 2025, Hesston:
The long-limbed sophomore gets the nod for his role as a defender of the paint off the bench. He is a reliable rebounder and an effective scorer around the goal. He hit 9-14 shots.
