Zach Anderson Zach Anderson 6'6" | SF Martin County West | 2023 State MN of Martin County West (sr). Anderson is the ultimate do it all kind of player and last night – even though his team came up short – he was the point guard, the top rebounder, the top creator, and the top shooter for his team. Zach has carried this heavy load for a long time and last night while his team came up one score short, he still scored 15 points with 8 boards giving everything he had.
Lawson Godfrey Lawson Godfrey 6'1" | SG Mankato Loyola | 2023 State MN of Mankato Loyola (sr). Godfrey had a slow start to a game that had an even slower pace. Maybe the slowest pace I saw all year. However, his six jumpers made in the second half completely changed the momentum and gave the Crusaders the comfort to move into the section championship game later this week. In the event, Godfrey scored seven times in a high pressure situation scoring 17 points (highest total of the night at Gustavus). Godfrey is a tough kid which is what his coaches love, but his perimeter touch looked excellent as well.
Simon Morgan Simon Morgan 6'3" | SF Mankato Loyola | 2023 State MN of Mankato Loyola (sr) . Simon Morgan Simon Morgan 6'3" | SF Mankato Loyola | 2023 State MN took one field goal attempt for his team all night. So why is he on this page? Because he grabbed a high of 12 rebounds completely controlling the glass. Several of those boards were offensive as Martin County West looked helpless to board on both ends. The rebounding control from Morgan was crucial to Loyola’s one point win.
Dakota Pendleton Sam of Cedar Mountain (sr). Dakota is one of the most patient players I saw all season. His ability to handle the ball against pressure, handle the ball in a long possession, and patiently wait for an opening to move the ball through really caught my eye. Had seven assists but most importantly he guided his team down the stretch to a victory in a high pressure situation consistently making the right choice. Scored ten points too.
Trever Schauer of Lester Prairie (jr). After a slow start the 6’3 guard was able to start maneuvering his way through the Cedar Mountain defense to score around the basket with smaller contesting players in his comfort zone. Good touch from the perimeter, excellent ball handling skills, the strength to board and the ability to playmake, that is Trever Schauer. Has a chance to be a very good D3 prospect or an NAIA scholarship guy.
