The end of the high school season is the best time to throw a fresh update on class rankings and our latest 2024 update went live earlier this month. In this piece we break down how the small forward/wing position is shaping up in SoCal's 2024 class.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502766' first='Carter' last='Bryant'] is our top overall small forward/wing prospect

The wing spot is the deepest position in the 2024 class and Sage Hill School's Bryant stands at the top of the list. At 6-feet-8 there's nothing Bryant can't do. He's an elite facilitator with a high level basketball IQ, showed he can take over games with defense and rebounding and, as we've always known, he has an advanced and versatile offensive skill-set. It was good to see Bryant face double and triple teams all season and watch him make the right basketball plays out of those situations.

Next Up...

[player_tooltip player_id='1502767' first='Isaiah' last='Elohim'], Sierra Canyon: No. 2 SF, No. 2 overall

Elohim battled injuries all season but that didn't take away from the fact that he's one of the best wing prospects in the state. At 6-feet-5, he has a bit of a throwback feel to his game where he is very comfortable in the mid-range area of the floor. Elohim can get by defenders and into a balanced one or two dribble jumper that is difficult to contest because of his size and high release point on his shot. Elohim is a guy who can play as a primary ball-handler due to his dribble, pass, shoot abilities.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502779' first='Sebastian' last='Rancik'], JSerra, No. 3 SF, No. 5 overall

Rancik is on the border of that small forward/wing and power forward/stretch four archetype and with his performance this season he started leaning more toward the wing spot. The 6-foot-8 swingman is a perimeter shooting threat who can take bigger defenders off the dribble but can also take advantage of mismatches inside against smaller defenders. One of Rancik's best traits is his rebounding abilitiy on the offensive and defensive boards.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502771' first='Tyrone' last='Riley'], St. Pius X-St. Matthias, No. 4 SF, No. 6 overall

The smooth lefty shooter is one of the better floor stretchers off the catch that we have in the region. His ability to hit catch and shoot three-pointers while also being a dribble-drive scoring threat in transition and half-court offense make him a multi-dimensional offensive threat. Riley has made strides as a playmaker off the dribble for teammates, as well.

[player_tooltip player_id='1502777' first='Seven' last='Bahati'], Heritage Christian, No. 5 SF, No. 11 overall

Bahati has immense potential because of his combination of size and athleticism at 6-feet-5. The Heritage Christian product is an elite transition slasher and finisher who has high level pop in his legs. Bahati uses those same traits to be a good jump shooter at the mid-range level off the bounce. Where Bahati could separate himself from some other players in this class is on the defensive end as he moves well laterally, has good instincts, and has ideal size and length for a perimeter defender.
