Prep Hoops Florida scouts Allen Pettigrew and Ross Van De Griek were on the grounds of the RP Funding Center in Lakeland throughout the week. Here are the top standouts from Class 3A through 5A.
The 6-4 sophomore was a bruiser inside and a force in the paint, finishing with 14 points, 3 rebounds and 3 steals. He was a lockdown defender forcing his opponents to take tough shots and got defensive stops when it mattered most.
The 7-0 sophomore was a lockdown defender in the paint blocking shots, rebounding and not allowing second chance opportunities. Finishing with a near double-double at 20 points and 8 rebounds to help lead his team to their first state title in school history. On the offensive end, he was doing most of his work inside on post-ups, as well as using his size and length to his advantage.
The 6-5 junior small forward was doing it all for his team, scoring from the inside and finishing through tough contact. Reid finished with 20 points, on 9-of-11 shooting and went 2-of-3 from the free throw line. He used his body and frame on multiple defenders throughout the game. He was also out-muscling kids bigger than him.
The 6-3 senior guard and Barry University commit caught fire from beyond the arc in the first half, scoring 15 of his 21 points in the first half on 5 made 3-pointers. His unselfishness was also a key to success was also huge, dishing out four assists and picking up a team-high three steals on the defensive end. His physicality and toughness made it tough for his opposition to get good shots off.
The 5-11 senior guard played with a high basketball IQ and made the right plays throughout the game, finishing with a game-high 22 points on 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. His court vision was outstanding dishing out three assists and his offensive production spoke for itself leading his team to their first state title in school history.

The 6-1 sophomore guard played mature beyond his years with his aggressiveness. Finishing with 13 points and getting to the free throw line on numerous occasions going 11-for-12 from the line. The 2-sport standout has the potential to be a breakout star for his team the next two seasons.
