Standing at an imposing 7’0, Guimarães is a dominant paint protector for Riviera Prep. His incredible wingspan makes him an elite shot blocker and an intimidating rim protector, as shown by his performance with 13 blocks in a single game. Guimarães has a high basketball IQ and solid athleticism for his size, making him a challenging matchup down low. College coaches should be paying close attention as he continues to prove his worth this season.

-The ball always seems to find his hands, whether he was in position to grab the offensive rebound when the shot went up or not– he usually came up with it in traffic. His footwork and hands allow him to create the necessary space to finish around bigs that are more athletic than he is, and his feel for where the ball is coming off and what move the defense is anticipating allows him to make quick decisions on the fly. Guimaraes is becoming a much more assertive shot-taker from the midrange and usually collects his miss to score around the basket when that does happen, extending that range will be key to his projection.

Guimaraes plays so incredibly patient and is extremely fundamentally-solid for a big his size. The footwork, hands, and finishing ability were on display throughout the weekend for an All Ball group that turned some heads in Baltimore. Guimaraes utilized his pivot, both hands, and showed off a nice scoring skillset around the basket while controlling the glass for his team. Nice to see the passing flashes as well to cutters and shooters as his coach put him in the high post for a few possessions and allowed him to create. The ability to knock down 18 footers and a soft touch in the paint projects well for the next level as a very skilled 5 that can help a team in a variety of ways

The 6-11 junior center makes a living on the interior at both ends of the floor where he has strong hands and active footwork. Guimaraes also adds length where he can challenge shots around the rim as well as cover the perimeter. His ball-handling and decision-making have continued to improve as he is slowly becoming a versatile prospect who can play multiple positions. Intrigued to see where Guimaraes lands as far as recruitment by the end of this upcoming season.

Gustavo Guimaraes is not just your typical center in the post, He has gained a lot of confidence when it comes to shooting from up to 15-feet from the basket. On the defensive end, he is a solid rim protector and shot blocker where his length plays a big factor. Guimaraes plays with a load of physicality which frustrates most opposing players and coaches. On the offensive end, he has continued to improve his ball-handling and footwork where he shows a lot of flashes for finishing above the rim. Intrigued to see where Guimaraes lands as far as recruitment by the end of this upcoming season.

The 6-11 power forward is one of the upcoming big men for the Class of 2025 as he can do it all on the defensive side whether it’s blocking shots or pure rebounding at the rim. Guimaraes played a big role for Riviera Prep in their state championship game on both ends of the floor as his length became a problem for Windermere Prep. Guimaraes averaged 6.6 points, 6.8 rebounds and nearly two blocked shots per game last season.
