Sophomores are already contributing at a high level, with some even breaking school records. There will likely be several Division I shooting guard prospects in this class. Here’s a look at the top stock risers this season.
Another player that deserves more attention is Carter Wollan Carter Wollan 6’3″ | SG Amery | 2025 State WI . Carter ranks 8th in the state with 27.8 points per game. He’s already broken numerous school records for Amery High School and will be the best player to ever lace up for them. Carter’s ability to score is impressive. He shoots well on the move, knocks down the three ball, and throws down dunks in transition. Carter is shooting 37.7% from three on a mind-blowing 239 attempts (11.3 attempts per game). He’s got a knack for disrupting passing lanes and forcing turnovers. I love Carter’s misdirection. His combination of stutter steps, crossovers, and between the legs keeps the defense on their toes. He can facilitate and impact the game in many ways on the offensive and defensive end. He’s one of the few prospects that can do it all. He’s averaging 7.8 rebounds, 5.1 assists, and 2.1 steals per game to go along with his 27.8 points.
Highlights
Jake Hansen Jake Hansen 6’1″ | SG Wauwatosa West | 2025 State #331 Nation WI is another name to keep an eye on. He already has offers from St. John’s and Grambling State with visits to the likes of Wisconsin and Minnesota. Other Big Ten teams will be calling shortly. Jake’s averaging 15.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.5 assists per game this year. The thing that sticks out about Jake is his confidence. He truly believes in his skillsets and doesn’t let a slow shooting start stop him from still impacting the game. Jake can already knock down well beyond the three-point line but it’s noteworthy how he can score from three. He shoots well off of screens and in spot up opportunities, as well as off the dribble in a pick and roll. He’s smart and makes quick decisions. I like how he’s able to suck the defense in by attacking the mid-range. It really opens up the floor for teammates.
Zach Behn Zach Behn 6’7″ | SG Kewaskum | 2025 State WI is having one heck of a sophomore campaign. He’s nearly doubled his scoring and rebounding averages from last year. He’s averaging 15.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 2.2 assists per game on 39.6% 3P shooting. Zach most commonly scores off the catch as he excels attacking the hoop or finding the soft spot for a nice mid-range jumper. His physical tools should draw some interest from college programs. He’s already a lengthy 6’6″ and can finish well above the rim. He’ll likely transition into a wing at the college level. If Zach continues to improve, he has the potential to garner low major to mid major interest. His shot is improving as the season goes on and he’s not afraid to put the ball on the floor and challenge defenders in the paint. Zach does a nice job of finishing through contact and controlling his body.
Highlights
AJ Bender is coming off a strong freshman year where he led Lake Mills in scoring, rebounding, and assists. This season, AJ hasn’t missed a beat as he’s doing it all again but with increased averages. AJ’s now averaging 21.4 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 4.7 assists per game. When AJ is on the court, he’s Lake Mill’s floor general on both sides of the ball. He talks on defense, does a good job of helping and recovering, and can guard multiple positions. On offense, he’s developing into a solid three-level scorer. He’s also an acrobatic finisher around the rim. He’s another player that does it all; he facilitates, scores, rebounds, and defends all at a pretty high level. Already standing at 6’3″ and an incredible athlete, AJ should mold into a solid prospect.
