We dive into the top ranked power forwards/centers in the sophomore class here!
Aleks Alston Aleks Alston 6'9" | PF Kenwood | 2025 State #170 Nation IL (Kenwood)
Current Ranking: #5
Alston is one of those guys that could really be a number of positions, but we see him as a new age four man that can handle the ball on the perimeter, pass it as well as any guard in the class, and also shoot spot up threes at a high rate. His value comes in his size and skill combination which are very impressive for a young prospect. Had a big first half of the season, but has been sidelined during the second half with an injury.
Jonah Funk Jonah Funk 6'9" | C El Paso Gridley | 2025 State IL (El Paso Gridley)
Current Ranking: #7
Funk is the top center in the class as the 6’9” long and lanky five man has a ton of projectability. Needs to add strength which will come in time, but we are so intrigued with his overall package as a two way center. Shot blocker with timing that rebounds at a high level. Can push it on his own a little and is a force running the floor with his fluidity. Finishes with explosiveness inside, sound post moves, and has face up skill being able to stretch to three.
Mike Jones Mike Jones 6'7" | PF Chi-Prep | 2025 State #164 Nation IL (Chi-Prep)
Current Ranking: #8
Jones is a reclass prospect who was originally in the 2024 class. We haven’t seen him this year as Chi-Prep doesn’t play traditional Illinois schools, but he has been posting good numbers on the grind session. We saw him over the summer with Team Rose and were impressed with the broad shouldered post that rebounded at a very high rate, is a rim protector, runs the floor extremely well, and finishes with explosion out of the dunker spot.
Nick Allen Nick Allen 6'9" | C Bradley Bourbonnais | 2025 State IL (Bradley Bourbonnais)
Current Ranking: #10
Allen caught our attention back in June at the Ridgewood event with his size for position 6’9” and ultra-skilled offensive game around the hoop. Like what he brings as a low post scorer with advanced footwork. He also can pass it and rebounds well in his area. Potential as a rim protector with his length and athleticism.
Jonas Johnson Jonas Johnson 6'6" | PF DePaul Prep | 2025 State IL (DePaul Prep)
Current Ranking: #17
Johnson has the type of game that you are looking for in face up four men at a young age. His length and skill play well around the hoop with his soft touch on quick post moves. Solid area rebounder that will get even better once he adds strength.
Dalton Scantlebury Dalton Scantlebury 6'8" | PF Lane Tech | 2025 State IL (Lane Tech)
Current Ranking: #23
Scantlebury is a player that we have really enjoyed watching in each evaluation over the last six months. Super productive rebounder on both ends of the floor. Excellent timing and feel as a rim protector. Offensively he is very skilled on the block with spin moves and hook shots.
Bradley Biedke Bradley Biedke 6'6" | PF Conant | 2025 State IL (Conant)
Current Ranking: #24
Biedke is a skilled face up 6’6” four that can really shoot the basketball. One of the best pick and pop shooters in the class can space the floor with such a soft touch and clean release. Gets to the line and racks them up. Needs to add strength.
Chris Bush Chris Bush 6'5" | PF Champaign Central | 2025 State IL (Champaign Central)
Current Ranking: #32
Bush is a well built 6’5” four man that works well out of the mid-post. He can shoot it from 15 feet, put it on the deck a little, and finishes out of the dunker spot inside. High level rebounder that snatches them in traffic with two hands.
