Smith is getting quality minutes off the bench for the Golden Bears and was impressive in their blowout win over Westland. Smith is a knockdown shooter from the wing position and has taken some big steps defensively from where he was in the fall. Smith has good length, was moving his feet and making it difficult for the opposing team to score on him. Smith is one of the highest upside 2026 prospects in central Ohio and it won’t be long till he’s a well-known name across the state.
Kershaw has had some huge scoring outbursts this season and he got hot late from 3-point range to show off his scoring ability. I was impressed with how Kershaw created with the ball in his hands and was able to get low with the dribble despite standing at 6’4. Kershaw did need a lot of dribbles to create so figuring out ways to be efficient at creating space with the ball will be essential when he plays at the grassroots level. Kershaw also has the frame to make a leap defensively and in the weight room. Kershaw has lots of upside and if he continues to develop could wind up a scholarship level prospect.hayd
Maysville has been the talk of the MVL this season as they won their first conference title in almost 30 years and Jarrett has been the leader for his team this year. I was impressed with Jarrett’s ability to score in the pick and roll and his ability to create for himself. A football stud as well, Jarrett has a college ready frame and recently was made the all time leading scorer in school history. Small college coaches should check Jarrett out as a utility guard with toughness and shooting ability.
Another multi sport stud in the MVL, Walker and Jarrett were fun to watch compete against each other on Friday night. A good athlete, Walker made a big defensive impact. Walker also finished an early and-1 layup and knocked down a few jumpers as well. Walker has had a great career as a Little Muskie in multiple sports getting named to all conference teams.
One of the quickest guards in the state, Baskerville was tough to stay in front of as Stow got another impressive victory over Nordonia on the road. A flashy passer, Baskerville makes the right read when attacking the basket and looks to find his teammates on cuts. Baskerville also scored the ball in transition on layups and got to the free throw line numerous times throughout the evening. Stow has a balanced offensive attack with any starter capable of beating you on any given night.
Cherry is an impressive athlete who had an impact in the paint on both ends. Cherry was a monster on the glass, creating extra possessions and finishing defensive possessions for his team. Cherry also finished around the rim, using his size advantage to shoot over smaller defenders. Already committed to play at the next level, Cherry will look to help lead Nordonia on a deep playoff run in his senior season.
