It is officially almost time for Indiana High School Basketball to enter into the most exciting time of year. We have made it through over three months of regular season action and now culminate with a win-or-go-home state tournament. Here at Prep Hoops Indiana our staff will be previewing all 64 sectionals around the state over the next several days. Let's dive on in beginning with Sectionals 41-44 which feed into the Greenfield-Central Regional.

Sectional 41: Shenandoah

The Teams: Hagerstown, Knightstown, Northeastern, Shenandoah, Union County

The Contenders: Northeastern, Shenandoah

Players to Watch: [player_tooltip player_id='1738893' first='Jonny' last='Howard'] (Shenandoah 2026), [player_tooltip player_id='1292539' first='Grant' last='Luebbe'] (Northeastern 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1293345' first='Keaton' last='Mikesell'] (Northeastern 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='2089941' first='Michael' last='Roberson'] (Knightstown 2024), Mason Romack (Hagerstown 2023)

Prediction: Northeastern is the clear-cut favorite in this one at 18-5 as only Knightstown has tallied double digit wins this season, but this Sectional will be decided on the opening night. Northeastern battles the host Shenandoah on Tuesday with the winner playing Union County. If the hosts can beat the Knights, then it could be wide open, but Northeastern should be able to take care of business fairly easily.

Sectional 42: Eastern Hancock

The Teams: Eastern Hancock, Indianapolis Scecina, Irvington Prep, Riverside, Triton Central

The Contenders: Eastern Hancock, Indianapolis Scecina, Triton Central

Players to Watch: [player_tooltip player_id='1539555' first='Silas' last='Blair'] (Triton Central 2025), Luke Faust (Triton Central 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1386184' first='David' last='Mendez'] (Scecina 2024), [player_tooltip player_id='1293383' first='Isaac' last='Morgan'] (Triton Central 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1749488' first='Kayden' last='Ruble'] (Eastern Hancock 2025), [player_tooltip player_id='1561110' first='Elias' last='Sego'] (Triton Central 2026), [player_tooltip player_id='1393268' first='Jacob' last='Spaulding'] (Eastern Hancock 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1393269' first='Silas' last='Spaulding'] (Eastern Hancock 2023), DJ Wells (Riverside 2023)

Prediction: Sectional 42 is one of the most interesting mix of teams in the state with Eastern Hancock leaving the Shenandoah Sectional to go to Indianapolis. The Royals do not play a single team in their Sectional during the season, so there isn't much way to compare. At 17-6 and the host, they do come in as the favorite. Triton Central also comes in with just 6 losses, but they fell to Scecina during the season. Scecina is 3-0 in the Sectional and 14-6 overall, but they did not play the Royals. We will get this matchup on Friday night with Scecina at the hosts. I am really not sure which team wins that game, so I am going to take the underdogs, Triton Central. They are a young team with a ton of talent, but they also have good senior leadership with Faust and Morgan. I was very impressed when I saw them at Franklin County earlier this season.

Sectional 43: Cascade

The Teams: Cascade, Covenant Christian, Park Tudor, Sheridan, University

The Contenders: Covenant Christian, Park Tudor, University

Player to Watch: [player_tooltip player_id='1578356' first='Cal' last='Bostic'] (Park Tudor 2025), [player_tooltip player_id='1293439' first='Sabien' last='Cain'] (University 2024), [player_tooltip player_id='868228' first='Jermaine' last='Coleman'] (Park Tudor 2023), Tony Flatt (Covenant Christian 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1297034' first='Hudson' last='Horvath'] (Park Tudor 2025), [player_tooltip player_id='1556354' first='Andre' last='Ozlowski'] (University 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='935733' first='Bryce' last='Petty'] (Park Tudor 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1139221' first='Caleb' last='Wright'] (Sheridan 2025)

Prediction: Sectional 43 has four teams with double digit wins, and the regular season saw only three games between Sectional opponents. University sits at 19-2 with wins over both Covenant Christian and Park Tudor, but both of these wins came at home. How will that change on the road? University got the top draw as they play the two bottom teams on the way to the finals. The Sectional gets going on Friday with Covenant Christian and Park Tudor, two teams who surprisingly did not play during the season. As long as University can shut down Wright, the winner will get the Trailblazers in the finals. It will probably be a battle between Coleman and Cain in the finals, and I am going to take University.

Sectional 44: Southmont

The Teams: Cloverdale, Greencastle, North Putnam, Parke Heritage, Riverton Parke, South Putnam, Southmont

The Contenders: North Putnam, Parke Heritage, South Putnam, Southmont

Players to Watch: [player_tooltip player_id='1049184' first='Carson' last='Chadd'] (Southmont 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1561051' first='Cody' last='Evans'] (Greencastle 2026), [player_tooltip player_id='1728674' first='Sam' last='Gooch'] (Greencastle 2026), [player_tooltip player_id='1297106' first='Renn' last='Harper'] (Parke Heritage 2025), [player_tooltip player_id='1556547' first='Derron' last='Hazzard'] (Riverton Parke 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1386185' first='Drew' last='Hill'] (South Putnam 2024), Brayden Monnett (North Putnam 2023), [player_tooltip player_id='1560965' first='Treigh' last='Schelsky'] (Parke Heritage 2026)

Prediction: Sectional 44 is going to be a battle between seven teams who know each other very well. Compared to the last two Sectionals which only had 7 total games between Sectional opponents, Sectional 44 has seen 23 games between Sectional opponents. Parke Heritage and Schelsky come in as the favorite, but the host Southmont is just behind. The hosts will battle North Putnam in the opening round. The winner of that will more than likely play the winner of South Putnam and Parke Heritage in the finals. Parke Heritage only won by four at South Putnam, but I am still taking the Wolves. Southmont fell to North Putnam in the season opener, but I am going to take the hosts and their experience to not only beat North Putnam but also Parke Heritage to take the Sectional title.
