Boy, were we wrong. Plymouth Whitemarsh led 29-18 at halftime. In the 3rd quarter they snuffed out Upper Dublin’s brief comeback bid with a 19-5 run, taking a 20-point lead into the final stanza. From there “P-Dub” cruised to a 66-39 win. The Colonials are now 15-0 in SOL play (19-2 overall).
Below is a review of a few of the prospects who took the court during the Upper Dublin vs. Plymouth Whitemarsh game.
Plymouth Whitemarsh
Qudire Bennett Qudire Bennett 6'4" | SF Plymouth Whitemash | 2023 State PA – 6’4″/ Senior / L&L Running Rebels / Small Forward: Bennett is a 3-level scorer who is posting a Suburban One POY worthy season. He recently surpassed the 1,000-point mark for his career and last night he showed no signs of slowing down. Bennett’s physicality and creative moves allowed this uncommitted prospect to get to his spots. For a player of his size, Bennett is surprisingly quick. He tallied 15 points for PW.
Chase Coleman Chase Coleman 6'2" | PG Rocktop Academy | 2024 PA – 6’1″ / Junior / NY Rens / Combo Guard: Coleman was the leading scorer for PW with 23 points, but his point total does not tell the whole story. Last night he had an impact on every facet of the game. Coleman helped push the transition game for easy buckets, played suffocating defense and at times served as a primary ball handler. He possesses a well-rounded game and has just scratched the surface of his potential.
Jaden Colzie Jaden Colzie 6'0" | PG Plymouth Whitemarsh | 2024 State PA – 6’0″ / Junior / New Jersey Scholars / Point Guard: The 2022-23 season has been a steady, but under the radar year for Colzie. That was until Thursday night when Colzie (18 points) played like a man possessed. His speed and elusive handles enabled Colzie to get downhill quickly for fast break buckets. He displayed 3-point range on his jumper. Plus, his menacing on-ball defense created steals and deflections which led to easy points for PW. Colzie’s court vision and unselfish nature are key to this team’s success.
Jahseir Sayles Jahseir Sayles 6'6" | SF Plymouth Whitemarsh | 2024 State PA – 6’5″ / Junior / Philly Pride National / Wing: Sayles is an athletic, long, and quick prospect who owns a well-rounded game. There is no doubt he has the potential to be a star player. But right now, Sayles (6 pts; 2 threes) is being asked to fill the “3 and D” role for PW. He does that extremely well. His ability to grab a defensive rebound and trigger PW’s fast break with an outlet pass or by putting the ball on the deck himself is also impressive.
Lincoln Sharpe – 6’5″ / Senior / Power Forward: After a one-year hiatus, Sharpe has returned to the hoops court, and his impact for the Colonials has been significant. He only recorded two points, but he simply dominated the glass vs. Upper Dublin. Sharpe grabbed 18 rebounds (unofficially). Additionally, Sharpe’s smothering defense on UD’s Seaton Kukla was a key factor in this game.
Upper Dublin
DJ Cerisier – 6’1” / Senior / Total Skills / Combo Guard: Cerisier (4 points) is an amazing athlete who uses his speed and change of direction abilities to score at the rim. When he gets into the paint, Cerisier can absorb contact and convert or execute a drive and kick. He is also a plus defensive player. Committed to Duquesne for football.
Brady Fogle – 6’1” / Junior / Next Play Basketball / Combo Guard: Fogle (4 points) is a knock down shooter who has carved out a solid role for himself on this UD squad. He owns a high basketball IQ and a good feel for the game. Fogle can run as a secondary ball handler too. He is a 2024 to watch in the post season.
Seaton Kukla – 6’6″ / Senior / PSB Philly-Ferrick / Small Forward: Kukla is having an impressive season, but last night it was tough sledding for him (2 points), as the PW defense was determined to limit his touches. We have seen Kukla play several times on the summer circuit, so we know he can score in the paint via dribble drives or the offensive glass. He can also drain the mid-range jump shot as well as the 3-ball.
Ryan Mulroy Ryan Mulroy 6'3" | SF Upper Dublin | 2025 State PA – 6’4” / Sophomore / Philly Revolution / Wing: Mulroy is an automatic shooter with beautiful mechanics, a quick trigger, and a knack for finding the open spaces. If a defender crowds him or he draws a double team, Mulroy (8 points) owns the basketball IQ and poise to execute a fake and then use a couple dribbles to get a better look for himself or to distribute to an open teammate.
