Dexter
South Lyon
South Lyon East
PREDICTIONS
Quarterfinals – South Lyon vs. South Lyon East (3/6, 7PM, @ Dexter)
Prediction: South Lyon East
How about a rivalry game to kick things off? Even better is that they already split their 2 meetings this season. South Lyon East has some tough perimeter scorers that could carry them to a win.
Semifinals – Ann Arbor Skyline vs. Dexter (3/8, 5:30PM, @ Dexter)
Prediction: Ann Arbor Skyline
Don’t get fooled by the records, Dexter can play. With a veteran like Haroldson and a talented freshman like DeMerell, they can win this district. That being said, I went with Skyline because of their skill and versatility at the forward positions.
Semifinals – South Lyon East vs. Brighton (3/8, 7PM, @ Dexter)
Prediction: South Lyon East
Yet again, a matchup between 2 teams that are more than good enough to win this district. There’s a lot of talented shooters, scorers, and ball handlers in this one.
Championship – Ann Arbor Skyline vs. South Lyon East (3/10, 7PM, @ Dexter)
Prediction: South Lyon East
Surprise, surprise, another “pick em” type game. I really think that South Lyon East make a run from the quarterfinals to a district title. I really like the way that they play together and the way the pieces fit on the team.
PLAYERS TO WATCH
I watched Fannon earlier this season and came away very impressed. He scored early and often, but was mostly impressive as a 2 way player. Fannon is a strong player that knows how to use that strength on both ends of the floor.
Highlights
I just wrote about Braun yesterday, but why stop a good thing right? He’s a beast in the frontcourt and has the ability to control the paint and dominate the boards. Braun could be a very tough matchup in the quarterfinals and could very well spark a win.
Highlights
Sam Koelling
Sam Koelling
Koelling is going to be a matchup nightmare throughout this district. The Carleton College commit is a versatile defender that has shown the ability to defend the rim as well as guard on the perimeter.
Haroldson is a very talented player that can cause nightmares for opponents. His combination of strength and ball skills is a tremendous asset. He’s a high basketball IQ player and a tremendous leader. Haroldson is the type of player that can take his team to a district title.
I’ve been singing Tomassi’s praises since I saw him at the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250. The young man brings a lot to the floor for his team. He’s a strong ball handler that can apply a lot of pressure to the opposing defense. Tomassi can be a dangerous shooter, especially from the corners where he has a knack for getting open.
