We’ll break down five prospects who won quarterfinal games on their road to a state title. This is the third article in the series highlighting the play of players that pushed their team into the postseason. Here is a link to part 1 and part 2.

Gibbs | 2025

– Gibbs
Daniels is only a sophomore but has a growing reputation as a tough-nosed scorer in the Tampa area. He’s improved in every statistical category from last season. He uses his quickness and feistiness to pick the pockets of defenders. That same quickness makes him a lethal ball handler that creates space in the midrange and collapses a defense. He can find the open man in a crowd when he draws a second defender. Daniels is doing this as a smaller guard who opposing teams know is Gibbs’s primary playmaker.
Tavian Cook

Gateway | 2024
FL
– Gateway
Cook is that for another productive scoring, year 18 points a game. He’s a plus athlete at the guard spot and can push in transition, fly above the rim, and finish through contact. He’s at his best when the game is fast. Cook struggled behind the three-point line this season but was a 38% shooter from deep on the same number of attempts last season.
Christin Reid – Mater Lakes Academy
Reid is a powerful 6-5 athlete with a great motor. He wins 50-50 balls, rebounds on both ends of the floor, and finishes above the rim in transition. His string and speed make him a good half-court slasher and cutter. He reminds me of Dylan Canoville, another SOH elite standout but with more ball skills.
Enrico Borio – North Broward Prep
Borio is a new name for me but it will grow over the next year. As a mobile 6-8 forward, he can handle the ball on the perimeter, pass over the top of the defense, and rebounds well. His combination of footwork in the post and slashing make him a good paint-scoring option. He’s not blowing you away with his athleticism, but he will finish above the rim even if a rim protector is present. Borio’s hi Lites show he’s a creative passer in, even when he’s in attack mode. The 16U Brazilian national team standout in knows how to play the game.
Dontrell Jenkins

Santa Fe | 2023
State
FL
– Santa Fe
Last week, I called Jenkins, the best-unsigned senior in the state, and he proved why again in the quarterfinals. He’s a muscular lead guard that can score in bunches, create scoring opportunities for teammates and play aggressive on-ball defense. The jumper is quick and efficient in the mid-range and from deep. Jenkins is shifty and creates space with head fakes and a tight handle. He may be listed at 5 foot 10 but has no problem scoring against contact with much bigger players in the paint.
