The season is almost over for the boys teams in the state of Louisiana. During district play, and even before, there have been some players that have set themselves apart from the pack as players to watch. As the playoffs approach, we will talk about players that should be on everyone's radar during the playoff runs by each individual school.

[player_tooltip player_id='1218194' first='Jaylin' last='Johnson'] (6'3" | Alexandria)

Johnson is probably one of the most athletic guards in Louisiana. He is a lefty who can score at all three levels and finish at or above the rim. ASH is in a different position as they may begin the playoffs on the road. They will need Johnson and his athleticism to possibly win a road game in the playoffs. He is a true difference maker on the floor with the ball in his hands.

[player_tooltip player_id='1561807' first='Marcus' last='Lofton'] (5'10" | Captain Shreve)

Sophomore point guards can make or break a team in a playoff situation with their lack of experience. In Lofton's case, he seems to be picking up his game when the Gators need it most. Marcus has shot the ball well along with getting Shreve into the sets Coach Deans wants. His level of maturity and play will make him a commodity during the Gators playoff run. If he shoots it well, that will be an added bonus.

[player_tooltip player_id='970125' first='De'Vion' last='Lavergne'] (6'4" | North Central)

Lavergne is the best two guard in the state. He creates offense for himself and others and can lock down anyone he defends. His versatility on the defensive end makes him vital to the Hurricanes success. Along with that skill, he has been a part of past championship teams. That added experience along with Lavergne's ability to dominate on both ends can aid the Hurricanes in another title run.

[player_tooltip player_id='1560448' first='Jalen' last='Brown'] (5'10" | Avoyelles Charter)

Brown is a crucial part of one of the best teams in the state this season. He is a smaller guard who can put it on the deck and get to the rim. Brown can also shoot it well from deep. His offensive ability is impressive and he is able to score on multiple levels. This may just help Avoyelles Charter hoist the Division V title at season's end.

[player_tooltip player_id='1130805' first='Fredtravious' last='Benjamin'] (6'2" | Green Oaks)

Benjamin has had a breakout season for the Giants. He has now become a three level scorer and exceptional defender who can take over games when necessary. Due to the size of the Giants, Benjamin has played multiple positions on defense and has become one of the better rebounding guards in north Louisiana. His board work and offense will be the key to the success of Green Oaks in the playoffs.

The playoffs will begin on Friday and these players will be ready to go for their respective teams. Watch and see how they, and others perform, as the playoffs move on.
