We are expecting to see some highly entertaining and intense basketball action featuring major DI prospects. By now you are familiar with the elite District 1-6A ballers we are talking about. Names like Dylan Blair Dylan Blair 5'10" | PG Downingtown West | 2023 State PA , Qudire Bennett Qudire Bennett 6'4" | SF Plymouth Whitemash | 2023 State PA , Jacob Nguyen Jacob Nguyen 6'3" | SG Spring Ford | 2025 State PA and Sam Brown Sam Brown 6'3" | CG Lower Merion | 2023 State PA .
Running the court with No. 1 options like those listed above will be a group of prospects who contributed heavily for their varsity team this winter and will potentially play at the next level but are not household names yet.
Today we want to highlight six of these District 1 athletes who are participating in the tournament on Tuesday night. That way when someone asks you, “What’s His Name?” you will know the answer.
Niymire Brown Niymire Brown 6'4" | SF Upper Darby | 2023 State PA – 6’4″/ Senior / Upper Darby / One Opportunity / Small Forward: In a UD lineup stocked with elite perimeter scoring, Brown is a physical and athletic small forward who can fill it up in the paint. He can score the ball via dribble drives from either elbow or operate out of pick-n-roll action. Brown recently scored 28 points vs. Perkiomen Valley in District 1-6A 2nd round action.
Connor Fleet Connor Fleet 6'0" | CG West Chester Henderson | 2024 State PA – 6’1″ / Junior / WC Henderson / East Coast Power -Richards / Combo Guard: One of the best kept secrets in the junior class is this scoring guard who is a respectable three-point shooter, but who absolutely annihilates defenders off the dribble. Last week Fleet poured in 32 points in Henderson’s District 1-6A playback win over Methacton.
Joe Giordano – 6’0″ / Senior / CB East / Total Skills / Combo Guard: Simply put, Giordano is a playmaker at both ends of the court. He is averaging 12 ppg. across two District 1-6A games this month and had a knack for hitting game winners this season. On defense he is a tremendous communicator and understands how to play connected team defense.
Zuri Harris Zuri Harris 5'11" | CG Coatesville | 2024 State PA – 5’11″ / Junior / Coatesville / Team Final Red / Combo Guard: Harris is a quick guard who can get downhill in a flash. That makes Harris a real transition problem for opponents. Harris can also pop jumpers from any spot on the floor. He is averaging 16 points and 2 made triples per contest in his first two Distric1 -6A contests.
Tommy Kelly Tommy Kelly 6'4" | SF Spring Ford | 2025 State PA – 6’4” / Sophomore / Spring Ford / Philly Pride National / Wing: Kelly is an athletic and multi-skilled third option for SF who brings a great deal of energy to the court. Playing alongside two elite, high-volume shooters can be difficult for many kids. But Kelly (8 ppg. in reg season) does an impressive job of finding space for catch and shoot Js as well as working the offensive glass for points.
Corey Meade – 6’3” / North Penn / Shooting Guard: One of the best 6th men in the Suburban One League, Meade provides instant point production off the bench. He is a fast athlete who can get buckets by blowing past a defender for a lay-in. Meade is also effective in transition and a force on the offensive glass. He is averaging 7 ppg. in District 1 tourney action. Back in January he scored a season high 24 points vs. Pennridge. On defense, Meade is a surprisingly good shot blocker.
