Broomfield has been an early contributor to his team’s success this season in district play, going up against tough opponents such as Davis, Eisenhower, and Macarthur and showing he has what it takes to succeed against high level competition. DeBrion is one of the vocal leaders in the starting backcourt along with teammate Dexter Smith and when asked to shoulder the scoring load, Broomfield proves he has no problem taking upon the responsibility. Broomfield came into the preseason ranked #72 by RCS Sports and has made a strong case for himself to be boosted up from that spot. In one of his contests I watched, DeBrion scored 16 points on 6/7 shooting and 3/5 from the foul line in a close 37-42 loss to district rival Benjamin Davis. He also added 5 assists, showcasing his vision on full display.
Everyone who is familiar with the basketball scene in the city of Houston knows that Bates is one of the most efficient scorers, if not the best, in the class of 2024 guards out of H-Town. A.J. has proven game after game that he can be relied on to score whenever his team needs him to take over the game and will them to a hard fought win. Bates most recently proved this in a district rivalry game against the Katy Tigers where Seven Lakes won 86-51 and he led all scorers with 23 points on 9 of 11 from the field and 3 of 6 from the foul stripe. AJ also added 6 assists and 10 rebounds, showing he is more than capable of being a leader on both ends of the court.

Jordan is a big time scorer for his Panthers team as they compete in a tough TAPPS private school district against experienced opponents like St. Thomas Catholic, Concordia Lutheran, and Village. In their game against the STH Eagles, Johnson led the offense in scoring as well as assists and fouls drawn. Jordan ended the 80-47 loss with 17 points on 7/14 shooting and 4/5 from the free throw line. Jordan will continue to make an impact in the backcourt with junior teammate Kevin Range and will try to help this team compete and finish out district play in the best way possible. Johnson will strive to be the vocal leader this young SPX team needs for the rest of this season and make an impact on both ends of the court in every game.
Deandre Jones
Deandre Jones
Deandre put on an absolute show of a performance in a district game against Summer Creek, playing the role of the catch and shoot man for his team in clutch moments. Jones launched 9 threes and made 7 of them, many of these coming in the second half propelling his teams late comeback, but ultimately the Mustangs fell just short in hostile territory. If he continues to shoot like this, Deandre will make a big impact for North Shore in an extremely tough district leading up to playoffs, where every game will be critical to determine standings. Jones is a big part of this offense and will only continue to gain upward momentum as the season progresses and comes to a close.
