On Monday we released our updated 2023 player rankings for what will likely be the last time before the final rankings release sometime after the conclusion of the high school season. There were a fair share of changes in the release and for this article, we'll take a look at several of the best available shooters according to our rankings.

[player_tooltip player_id='1219865' first='Dionte' last='Alexander'] | St. Maria Goretti

Ranking: No. 15

As I eluded to in my quick-hitting observations, Alexander received a well-deserved boost thanks to his high level of play this season. He has always impacted the game from a catch-and-shoot perspective, but has now demanded the defense's full attention as a scorer off the dribble. It's a major reason why Goretti correctly sports a 18-2 overall record.

[player_tooltip player_id='1450245' first='Malcolm' last='Day'] | Takoma Academy

Ranking: No. 16

Day is more of an all-around scorer as well, but can certainly make his presence on a game felt from beyond the arc. The 6'5 wing is effective from the corners in the half court and does a nice job of flaring out to the wings in transitions when the lane isn't clear for him to showcase his athleticism. If he gets into his shot with rhythm, there's a good shot the other team is retrieving it out of the net.

[player_tooltip player_id='1413498' first='Quinton' last='Monroe'] | Lake Clifton

Ranking: No. 27

Monroe can be streaky at times, but I see him really tapping into more of a shooting role at the college level. Whenever he has been surrounded by more playmaking guards, he has shown sound awareness in moving without the ball into open windows, catching the ball shot-ready and showing off his ability to knock down 2-to-3 in a row.

[player_tooltip player_id='1482973' first='Jake' last='Stout'] | Boys' Latin'

Ranking: No. 30

Stout has steadily expanded his range since the beginning of his high school career. Around 6'5-6'6, he is more of a stretch-four option and valuable as a pop threat after setting ball screens. He gets into his shot with fluidity and his size combined with a quicker trigger make it tough to get a truly effective contest if the defender is a second late on their rotation.

Marvin Brimage | Jackson-Reed

Ranking: No. 35

Of all the guys on this list, Brimage could be the one that has the ability to swing a game due to his accuracy from the outside. He's a volume shooter as well, so checking the box score after a big scoring performance and seeing him connect on seven or eight three's isn't foreign. He recently stepped into the spotlight at The St. James MLK Classic event against John Marshall and gave his team a chance to win late in the game thanks to his 26 points, 21 of which came from deep.

[player_tooltip player_id='1114029' first='Ryan' last='Sabol'] | Gonzaga

Ranking: No. 36

Sabol received a healthy boost in the rankings as well and continues to churn out productive outings for the Purple Eagles. While his game has grown more and more off the dribble, his bread and butter is his shooting ability. Playing alongside guys such as 2025 [player_tooltip player_id='1370498' first='Nykolas' last='Lewis'] help with creating open looks after forcing defenses to collapse. Sabol is another guy who isn't going to shy away from trying to put a team away by hitting a streak of three's. He plays with a chip on his shoulder.

[player_tooltip player_id='1413496' first='Caron' last='Smith'] | Parkville

Ranking: No. 40

Smith comes in as arguably the best shooter based off this season's production. Shooting over 50 percent from beyond the arc and averaging 24 points per game for the undefeated Knights, there hasn't been a team yet who has a defender that can keep Smith at bay. He's the type that can pull the trigger from three on the break while there's a clear lane and you feel just as confident as if he was shooting a lay-up.

[player_tooltip player_id='1219876' first='Cameron' last='Sparrow'] | New Town

Ranking: 46

Sparrow has been a sniper since he showed up in the Titans' gym as a freshman. Over time his frame has started showing signs of filling out and as a result, he's able to get to the rack with more consistency. With that being said, the scouting report against him will always be to close out hard on the catch. Nearing 6'4, Sparrow's release is compact and consistent whether or not he's pulling off the catch or the bounce.
